Organised by Creative Lives in Progress
Creative Lives in Progress presents Pep Talk, an Instagram Live Q&A featuring a range of creatives with plenty of advice to share.
This November we’re back with another inspiring Pep Talk. Our guest this time will be artist and creative coder, Zach Lieberman who will be joining us live from New York at 1pm on Instagram Live. Be sure to join us as Zach answers all your questions on creative coding, making artwork and finding a professional balance.
About Zach Lieberman
Based in New York, Zach Lieberman is an artist, researcher and educator. Known for his experimental drawing and animation tools, Zach uses code in a myriad of creative ways; from making artwork and interactive environments to writing poetry.
A fine art graduate, Zach stumbled upon the world of creative coding shortly after graduating – a discovery that would see him go on to land commercial work for the likes of Nike, Google and Facebook. His projects have garnered him many prizes, and in 2010, he was even listed as one of the “100 Most Creative People in Business” by Fast Company, who labelled him “part R&D [research and development] geek, part performance artist, and part hacker.
In addition to his personal and commercial work, Zach is also a teacher. As well as teaching classes at MIT Zach also co-founded the School for Poetic Computation at Parsons School of Design in 2013, where students explore how electricity, code and theory can be used to make poetry.
A co-creator of the open-source C++ toolkit for creative coding, openFrameworks, today, you'll often see Zach posting daily sketches on his Instagram account. Working with geometry, animation, gesture and graphic forms, the sketches are testament to Zach's commitment to experimentation and iteration in a creative practice.
Zach will be ready to answer all your questions later this month, so set your alarms for 1pm on November 17th, and join us as he talks about creative coding, making artwork – and making a living making artwork!
