Have you started a music industry business which is in early stages and is primed to shake up the industry? Do you need that extra push to transform the business into a sustainable career? Are you 18-30? This is the career-changing opportunity for you!

For this special edition of Roundhouse’s flagship six-week Accelerator programme we open the doors to the next generation of Music Industry entrepreneurs. Through weekly workshops, mentoring, pitch practice, peer to peer learning and free onsite desk space, we will catalyse you and your creative business to places you’ve been dreaming about.

At the end of the programme you will take part in a pitching evening where you will present your business to industry professionals for the opportunity to secure support.

In December 2021, Roundhouse hosted the unforgettable finale to Self Made’s flagship ‘Accelerator’ – a programme developing and mentoring early-career creative entrepreneurs. It saw inspirational founders from 18-30 years old pitch to an expert panel and live audience; for £5000+ of cash prizes and £8000+ of business support (from the likes of Taylor Wessing, Wiggin and Spotify)

You should apply if:

YOUR BUSINESS in the music industry has started, be it part time or full time, but you don’t have a business plan or guidance on how to grow it yet.
YOUR BRAND has been established which distinguishes your goods or services from the competition. You have some traction through sales or customer engagement, but you don’t know how to create a cohesive brand identity so that your business can thrive and not just survive
YOUR TIME – You are able to dedicate at least two days a week to the programme for its 6-week duration, plus the Pitch event (Thu 1 Dec, essential).
One of those days will be mandatory and the other you’ll be expected to either work on your business or work on the programme workshop deliverables (eg pitch deck, business plan)..
We are keen to welcome applications from social impact companies
Could you give me an example of who can apply?

We are inviting entrepreneurs working in the Music Industry – this may include (but not exclusive to) music technology, event production companies, artist services, management companies, NFT and digital, marketing & PR company (not solo freelancers), promoters, equipment hire etc.
You’re a company of one (or two) founders, you’ve been making money out of your creativity and you think that you can scale it to a business that has employees. But you don’t have access to the right information and experts to help you do that.
OR You want to turn your side hustle into your main hustle. Maybe you run a blog with a partner, or you put on events with a colleague, perhaps you design and make your own NFT’s. Whatever it is you’re doing, it’s starting to gain traction and you think it can be a fully fledged business but you need help to make that happen.
This opportunity is not aimed at freelancers or artists:

We are not accepting applications from Creative Freelancers on this occasion – eg freelance artists, tutors, producers – sorry! Keep an eye on Roundhouse’s ‘Young Creatives’ listings for alternative opportunities such as Self Made masterclasses, networking events and affordable workspace.

Freelancers earn money from what their time and skills by working with clients/organisations/promoters.
Freelancers earn money from what they do but without a long-term commitment to any one employer
Solo entrepreneurs work alone, but instead of working for other companies and trading time for money, they are building a business they can run entirely on their own.
If you are successful in getting a place, by the end of this programme you will have…

Developed your business plan
Developed pitching skills and produced a polished deck
The skills to talk to potential investors, partners and/or funding bodies
Developed practical business skills from experienced mentors and experts
Developed transferable skills, such as digital skills, presenting, networking & collaboration
Benefited from peer to peer learning and support
Created opportunities to reach new markets and generated new leads
What is included in the Self Made Accelerator?

A dedicated day every Wednesday for pitch training and curated workshops hosted by industry experts – this will take place off-site (not at Roundhouse)
Free onsite co-working space at Roundhouse
Participation in the Roundhouse Self Made Masterclass events at no cost
1:1 surgeries with business professionals
One-on-one support from the Roundhouse team
