Winner of the Palme d'Or at the 71st Cannes Film Festival for his film Shoplifters in 2018, Japanese director, producer, screenwriter, and editor Hirokazu Kore-eda has moved audiences across the world with his stories about various configurations of families, with credits including Nobody Knows (2004), Like Father, Like Son (2013), and Our Little Sister (2015).

This year sees Kore-eda’s first Korean film, Boxer, which raises questions about life for all of us through a story of characters who are unexpectedly thrown together with an abandoned baby, and who gradually become one.
“Family is a very complex thing that cannot be defined in one word. Even now as I continue to make films, it is something I constantly question myself about.”
Other credits include films The Truth (2019), The Third Murder (2017), After the Storm (2016) I Wish (2011), Air Doll (2009), Still Walking (2008), Hana (2006), Distance (2001), After Life (1998), Maborosi (1995) and TV series, Kasumi Arimura's Filming Break (2020) and Going My Home (2012).
Please note, Kore-eda will be delivering his lecture remotely.
