Can virtual worlds create the connected community social media has failed to build so many times? Improbable co-founder Herman Narula thinks so.

Join us on Thursday, 2nd July for a virtual briefing with WIRED Editor Greg Williams and Herman Narula, CEO and co-founder of Improbable, as they explore how shared experiences are changing in new, virtual worlds.

Long before the coronavirus crisis began, there were already more than three billion people playing video games and engaging in virtual platforms. Simulated worlds brought players from different countries and cultures into one place, allowing them to form and forge deep social connections through their adventures in gaming. Most parents recall the rise of Fortnite – a multiplayer Battle Royale game developed by Epic Games.
With the enforced lockdown of Covid-19 and millions of people shifted to remote working, online home-schooling and digital socialising, the "in real life" world can learn a lot from its virtual counterpart – namely in creating community through shared experiences.

Register for this virtual 25-minute discussion that explores how the virtual world is creating shared experiences and what this means for our society.
