What's happening:

This session welcomes Daisy Jacobs, Co-Founder and Director of Routes, a social enterprise that matches women from refugee and asylum-seeking backgrounds with mentors in London (Daisy is pictured below with co-founder Leyla).

We will hear the story behind creating Routes Collective, as well as her perspective on mentorship and the impact it has had on this community she has built.

  • Wednesday 2 September // 20.00 BST
  • Tickets are £15 and are available from our website.
  • This is a digital event so you can join from whatever part of the world you find yourself.
  • Keep an eye on our Instagram to hear more in the run up to the event.

Secure your spot. All profits from this event will be donated to Routes in support of their efforts. You’ll receive a confirmation of your booking as well as details on how to attend the meeting via email.

How it works:

  • At the point of sign up, you will be asked to share some details about yourself. The information is used to match you with a Soundboard.
  • You will receive an overview of who your matches are ahead of the event so you’re not going in blind.
  • Don’t worry, there will be no awkward conversations because we give you a topic to discuss with your match so no last-minute scrambling for what to say.
  • You make genuine connections and meet people you already have something in common with - we handpick a match for you based on pre-shared criteria which means you can skip the small talk and get right to the good stuff.

Don't let the fear of meeting someone new scare you off, guaranteed inspiration or your money back!

You should attend this event if...

  • You're curious to hear what it takes to create a Social Enterprise doing amazing things.
  • You've found yourself asking "How can I meaningfully support social justice movements?" or "What else can I do to take action in my community?"
  • You are looking for a source of inspiration and motivation on ways you could give back.
  • You want to make genuine connections with like-minded people.
  • You are curious, eager to learn something new, and have an open mind.

Anyone can join these events, you don't need to have any prior experience in any particular field, you just need to be curious and open to learning something new.

More about our speaker:

Daisy is the Co-Founder and Director of Routes, a London-based social enterprise supporting women with experience of the UK asylum system to build new relationships, develop their confidence and communication skills, and find space for self-exploration.

She founded Routes in 2017, after volunteering on the frontlines of the refugee crisis in Athens and Calais, where it was clear that traditional humanitarian responses, which largely relied on donations and volunteers, were not set up as sustainable solutions to a crisis that did not seem to be going away. She brings her background in applied theatre facilitation, teaching, a knowledge of social enterprise (gained on the Year Here programme), and a deep belief in the power of mentoring and coaching to her work at Routes.
