Organised by Leica Camera Ltd.

Join British still life photographer & director Amy Currell for a day of hands-on practical experience in learning the basics of studio lighting and still life composition at the Leica Akademie Mayfair.

This one-day workshop will equip you with the knowledge to start creating your own still life photographs. The workshop is both theoretical and practical and is based around two still life concepts that will be discussed throughout the day, a floral still life set up and a product set up featuring a drinks cocktail setting.

Starting with one set up you will be led through a discussion of concepts for the shoot from how to select backdrops, set design and story to lighting setup. Following this you will be taught the fundamentals of still life studio photography from a technical standpoint from how to set up your camera and lighting to how different light shaping tools effect your image and how to manipulate these to create unique effects.

Following this there will be a group discussion on how to set up, light and shoot the second set based on what was learnt in the first session with instruction on how to approach the new subject differently. Following this there will be a demonstration of post-production editing showing you how to select and edit a final image.

The final session of the workshop will be a practical session where participants will be encouraged to work together to create a finished set of still life images from concept to finished image based on what they learnt earlier in the day, splitting into two groups focused on either the floral or the product set up. The final task will be to deliver a finished edited image.
