Join artist and chef, Tomoya Matsuzaki for a free event for families exploring food, and its journey from land to our mouths.
About this event
Over the summer we are hosting 5 days of family-friendly activities in our garden and studio that take their starting point from five basic human survival needs – sustenance, shelter, rest, breathing and clothing. The sessions will offer children and their adults a relaxed and creative environment to look to nature and slow down.

Sustenance - Tomoya Matsuzaki
Sunday 24th July, 12-4pm
Join artist and chef, Tomoya Matsuzaki for a free event for families exploring food, and its journey from land to our mouths.
Children and their adults are invited to drop-in for an afternoon of tasting and self-led activities in our garden exploring how geography influences our relationship with the land, food cycles and seasonality of food.
Tomoya Matsuzaki will be experimenting with local and seasonal ingredients such as elderflower, fennel, nettle, wild rocket and garlic mustard (dependent on seasonal availability) to make tempura style food and infused herbal drinks for families to try.
The food tasting will be accompanied by an activity zine created by Tomoya Matsuzaki containing self-led activities for children and adults to do together in our garden, as well as recipe ideas and foraging tips to take home.
Please note: All ingredients and food sources will be listed on the day for allergies and information. There will be a limited amount of food, please book to avoid disappointment.
Additional info:
  • Family-friendly: Designed for children with accompanying adults, but open to all.
  • Open to children of all ages (recommended 3yrs and over). Children must be accompanied by an adult for the full session.
