Author, journalist and TV presenter Candice Brathwaite will join us to introduce her new book, Sista Sister.

With her 2020 debut, I Am Not Your Baby Mother, Brathwaite broke grounds with a thought-provoking and inspirational guide to life as a Black British mother. In the Sunday Times bestseller, she urged other new parents to scrap societal pressures and rules about how mothering ‘should’ be, and instead march to the beat of their own drum.

Sista Sister is no less poignant: a compilation of essays about all the things Brathwaite wishes she’d known as a young Black girl growing up in London, she movingly collects life lessons about everything from family and money to Black hair and fashion, as well as sex and friendships between people of different races. Written with Brathwaite’s characteristic charm, gravitas and humour, Sista Sister looks to have a profound impact on young Black women everywhere.

Brathwaite will join writer Natty Kasambala for an empowering evening of conversation, as she shares the experiences that inspired the book, and invites you to open up with her in this livestreamed event.

Running time: 60 minutes
