During this workshop you will be guided through the process of creating a traditionally stitched piece using running stitch, couching, and laced running stitch. After using these techniques as a method for drawing and mark making, you will be invited to apply them to any cherished textile that you would like to revive, whether for the home or for a garment. Using these slow and almost ritualistic processes, we hope to encourage you to give your used textiles a second life.

This workshop is suitable for both complete beginners and those with some sewing experience. All you need to take part is a computer with a webcam and microphone.

Materials required:
  • Needle
  • Thread (Machine / Embroidery)
  • Scissors
  • Pins
  • Scrap Fabric - we urge you to use what you have at hand. Your preloved fabrics, discarded garments or old sheets can be used as a base material
  • Sharp scissors
  • An embroidery hoop (not essential)
  • A cherished textile you would like to revive
