WFTV is delighted to host an in conversation with Kate McCullough, Director of Photography.
In this session, Kate will be offering an insight into the craft of cinematography and her experiences of working as one of the two female cinematographers on the hit drama series, Normal People.
The conversation will explore the technical and creative aspects of cinematography, including Kate’s experiences of working with the creative team on set to create and develop the distinctive look of the show, reflections on her creative visual references and personal shooting style as well as an insight into what equipment she gravitated towards to help tell the intimate story of Marianne and Connell.
After the conversation there will be an opportunity for audience members to put their questions to Kate during the Q&A.

Kate McCullough, Director of Photography
Kate is an emerging Irish cinematographer with a prestigious documentary background. Recent drama credits include Normal People for Element Pictures with director Hettie MacDonald and Tom O’Sullivan’s debut feature Arracht winner of Best Irish Film at this year’s Dublin Film Festival and with 11 nominations at IFTA 2020 including cinematography. In 2018 Kate won a Golden Frog at Camerimage for I, Dolours, in 2017 she was an Emmy nominee for The Farthest and in 2010 won Best Cinematography at Sundance for His & Hers.
Kate is a member of Irish Society of Cinematographers and Illuminatrix.

Caroline Bridges, Director of Photography
Caroline is an award-winning Cinematographer with eight years’ professional experience, having graduated with an M.A (Cinematography) from the National Film and Television School. She has worked on projects for broadcasters Netflix, Amazon Prime, TCM, Starz and BBC as well as having films in festivals around the world.
Television drama credits include Shakespeare And Hathaway (BBC One), Father Brown (BBC One), The Spanish Princess – 2nd Unit dailies (Starz) and Molly and Mack (CBeebies). Caroline also currently has a feature film You Can Tutu that is being distributed by Netflix in UK/USA/AUS/NZ.
Caroline’s awards include Best Cinematography for sci-fi This Is Axiom at the Largo Film Awards 2018.
