Join us for this one off panel discussion from the talent behind I Hate Suzie, an eight part series which will be airing on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV on 27th August.  Chaired by renowned film and TV critic Rhianna Dhillon, we will be hearing from Leila Farzad, Actor, Georgi Banks-Davies , Director,  Julie Gardner, Executive Producer for Bad Wolf, Andrea Dewsbery, Producer and Kahleen Crawford, Casting Director. The talent will talk about their experiences from an on and off screen perspective, offering insights into the production which include casting and what it was like working on the project.

Series Synopsis, Billie Piper stars in a bold, bracing, Sky original drama about the moment in life when the mask slips, asking if any of us can survive being well and truly ‘known’. Suzie Pickles (Piper), has her life upended when she is hacked and pictures of her emerge in an extremely compromising position. The series shows her unravelling as the event ricochets around every area of her life. Episode by episode we follow her through the stages of shock, denial, fear, shame, bargaining, guilt, anger and acceptance as Suzie and her best friend and manager Naomi (Leila Farzad) try to hold her life, career and marriage to Cob (Daniel Ings) together.  Watch the official trailer here.

Host
Rhianna Dhillon, Film and TV critic for 9 years, beginning her career at BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra as their in-house film critic. Now freelance, Rhianna regularly hosts Q&A’s for BAFTA and BFI and contributes to numerous outlets for the BBC and ITN, including regular appearances on Radio 4. She currently has a weekly review slot on BBC6Music’s Breakfast Show with Lauren Laverne.

Panellists
Kahleen Crawford, Casting Director, started working in casting in 2000, and set up her company in 2006. She has been casting Ken Loach’s films since 2003. Kahleen’s other recent feature film credits include BIFA and BAFTA nominated Wild Rose (dir: Tom Harper), and BIFA and BAFTA nominated Only You (Dir: Harry Wootliff). As well as I Hate Suzie, other recent TV includes His Dark Materials (BBC/HBO), and The North Water (BBC). Kahleen is currently casting Maggie Gyllenhaal’s debut feature The Lost Daughter, 6 part BBC thriller Vigil, and Harry Wootliff’s second feature True Things About Me.

Julie Gardner, Executive Producer for Bad Wolf, she is best known for her work as Head of Drama, BBC Wales. There, Julie teamed up with Russell T Davies and Jane Tranter to spearhead the revival of the BAFTA-winning series Doctor Who, as well as a string of hit dramas. Julie co-founded independent production company Bad Wolf with Tranter. Bad Wolf produces His Dark Materials and A Discovery of Witches, together with forthcoming titles Industry, I Hate Suzie and Tenacity. Based in LA, Julie heads up Bad Wolf America which has a number of projects in development with US cable and streaming companies.

Andrea Dewsbery, Television Producer has worked across comedy and drama, as well as narrative documentary, with some of the UK’s top creative talent.  Andrea has just completed I Hate Suzie for Bad Wolf and Sky Atlantic. Before I Hate Suzie, Andrea produced historical epic The Spanish Princess for All3 Media and Starz, a series by Emma Frost and Matthew Graham drawn from the Philippa Gregory novels exploring royal history from the perspective of women.  Andrea’s other producing credits include Lisa McGee’s London Irish for Channel 4, and series 2 of comedy drama Beaver Falls for Company Pictures and E4.

Leila Farzad, Actor studied languages at Oxford University and then trained at Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Her most recent theatre includes the a women of colour Richard II at Shakespeare’s Globe and Julius Caesar at the Bridge Theatre. TV includes: Count Arthur Strong, Innocent, Cuffs, Man Down, Twenty Twelve, Law & Order and Married Single Other.

Georgi Banks-Davies, Director has just finished directing new Sky Atlantic series I Hate Suzie co-created by Lucy Prebble and Billie Piper, airing on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV on 27th August. Also in development is her debut feature with Hillbilly and BBC Films. She is also a prolific commercials director. Her short film Garfield played in competition at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and made the BAFTA long-list. Her latest short film The Fight, written by Abby Ajayi premiered last year at Palm Springs Shortfest.
