Our panel will discuss the impact of the pandemic on women’s equality in the UK, and explore what can be done to make a positive change.

As restrictions begin to ease, the findings of research into the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on women are making it plain that gender equality risks rolling back decades, with women suffering the greatest economic and social blows, and girls and young women becoming trapped in traditional gender roles at home.
The next 12 months will be critical for addressing and challenging the failings of the government to consider the impact of key policies on women under the Equality Act. When it comes to the government’s roadmap to home and workplace parity, which path will it take? And when so many decision-makers are men, how can women make sure their voices are heard?

Join Guardian senior news reporter Alexandra Topping - with Stella Creasy MP, writer and campaigner Otegha Uwagba, and Joeli Brearley, founder of Pregnant Then Screwed - as they explore the actionable ways for implementing positive and progressive change that is inclusive of all. In this livestreamed event, you will also have the opportunity to share your questions and thoughts with our panel in real-time.
