Beginners Film Photography
This full day workshop will aim to introduce you to the joys of analogue film photography and will take you from a beginner to confident in the steps required to take photos on film.
With the help of our Leica Akademie tutors, you will be taught the fundamental theories behind film photography, how to choose the correct film for your photographic style, how to load, manually shoot and unload your film.
During this workshop you will also be taken on a guided photo walk where you will shoot a roll of 35mm film with help from our Akademie tutor. This film will be processed during lunch for review in the afternoon session.
In the afternoon you will learn about the process behind how your film was developed and scanned and you will be taught the fundamental theories of analogue film development, scanning and printing.
The session will conclude with a chance to review and edit your scanned images with help from a tutor followed by a presentation of the group’s images for the day.
Please note the workshop price includes a roll of 35mm film with processing.
Limited numbers of Leica M film cameras will be available to loan for the day (see T&C’s). Participants are encouraged to bring their own cameras if they wish.
Schedule:
10.30- 11.30am: Introduction to film photography theories & techniques.
11.30am- 12.15pm: Film Selection & camera setup.
12.15- 1.15pm: Photo-walk.
1.15 – 2.15pm: Lunch break.
2.15 – 3.45pm: Discussion on developing, scanning & printing techniques.
3.45 – 4.45pm: Group introduction to editing scanned film images on Adobe Lightroom followed by personal photo review and editing with help from tutors.
4.45-5.30pm: Group photo review and conclusion.

This workshop is open to all skill levels.
Limited to 5 attendees.
Part of this workshop will be conducted outdoors; it is recommended appropriate clothing and footwear is worn.
Refreshments and snacks will be provided during the day. Please note lunch is not provided however your tutor will be able to offer recommendations.
*A Leica Camera is not required for this class. No previous photographic experience is required to attend.
