Taking inspiration from our upcoming exhibition Ai Weiwei: Making Sense, this one-day workshop will be an opportunity to have an immersive pottery experience trying a wide range of techniques and approaches.
Discover the tactile material of clay and its various properties and enjoy a day of hands-on exploration from creating pinch pots to wheel throwing and crafting tools.

What to expect
This workshop will introduce participants to the concept of repetition and make and break in the clay design process.
Starting with the physical process of preparing clay to making pinch pots into functional whistles and having a go on a potter’s wheel, participants will discover the powerful creative experience of making without fear or failure.
You will learn:
  • Hand-building techniques
  • Slip decorating
  • Toll making
  • How to centre on the potter’s wheel
  • Gain an insight into the clay making creative process

* Light refreshments and all materials will be provided.
* The workshop will give you same day access to our exhibition Ai Weiwei: Making Sense.
