In this creative session led by illustrator Lucia Vinti, learn how to combine analogue and digital drawing techniques to create a unique map of a location of your choice.
What to expect
The workshop will begin with a presentation showing a variety of illustrated maps, and a look at the iconic maps in the Design Museum’s permanent collection.
You will research your chosen place and select key landmarks and features to represent it. You will then create spot illustrations of local attractions, landmarks and people, and use them to create a map that captures the character of your chosen place. A cohesive colour palette will then be created to plan your composition in a way that balances accuracy with clarity and aesthetic.
Using a mix of digital drawing as well as drawing, painting or collaging by hand, a map will be created that captures the essence of a place.
All equipment, materials and light refreshments will be provided for the duration of the session.
