The word “creativity” has been thingified! Reduced from being a word that describes the vibrant and often unpredictable process of human sense-making to simply being a thing.  A product.  A commodity. A skill.  A job description.

In this entertaining and thought-provoking online talk, artist and writer Steve Chapman looks to de-thingify creativity.  To explore what it really means to be a creative human being in all its unpredictable and beautifully wonky glory.  To delve into the essential nature of creativity and contemplate its importance in nurturing a more tolerant and less creatively inhibited society.  And, most importantly, to better understand the importance of developing our own personal creative practices to build resilience and take care of our day to day mental and physical wellbeing.

Steve is an artist, writer, speaker, consultant and coach who is interested in creativity and the human condition.  He has spoken around the world on the subject of creativity on stages such as Cannes Lions/TEDx and has worked with over 80 organisations, supporting them in nurturing the creative spirit and creative wellbeing of their employees.  He has sold his art across 5 continents and exhibited alongside the likes of David Shrigley, Pablo Picasso and Noel Fielding.  Steve appears regularly as a guest on a wide variety of podcasts and is visiting faculty on a number of well-renowned MSc programmes.  He is at his best when he doesn’t quite know what he is doing.
