Upfield are a new company formed from the sales of Unilever’s spreads business in 2018. The business was acquired by KKR Investments and Upfield launched. They are active in 50+ markets with a Global spend in the region of £225m
dentsu X won the Global account in May 2019 after a pitch.
Whilst their brands are established and the budgets defined Upfield are effectively a start-up. They inherited nothing from Unilever and aim to do things differently.
The Account Director is responsible for providing leadership and excellence across the account, and embed new Data driven ways of working across the Redstar network and Global brands.
The individual will also work overseeing the digital output of the individual markets to ensure we deliver a consistently high level of client expertise both at Global and Local level.
Responsible and accountable for the client’s forward thinking and support strategy and channel planning.
Forge strong relationships with central clients, understanding the key issues facing the client business.
Being vocal and collaborative with clients, driving thought pieces on the changing landscape and the role of dentsu X within an integrated communication mix.
Ability to analyse and interpret data to frame insights/audience behaviour so to shape media planning and share thinking with local markets.
Leading the development of media recommendations, plan rationale, presentations, post campaign analysis.
Maintain a collaborative and strong relationship with all partners.Develop proactive new scope opportunities; delivering to agreed financial/business goals.
Work with the local markets to raise the level of expertise.
Ensure work delivered to client is of highest standard; review all key documents and presentations prior to distribution (particularly those documents produced by junior team members)
Do not actively manage any direct reports, but need to provide guidance, mentoring and leadership in a matrixial environment.
Support with new business pitches if required.
Provide specialist technical advice on subject areas (online video, social, mobile, RTB etc) but also involve and coordinate work across specialist technical teams when required.
Responsible for expanding the knowledge base across the team in other integrated areas particularly across device (mobile etc) and channels (social, video etc)
Data Driven Business leadership
Fluency in Data strategies and data driven media (1st / 2nd / 3rd).
Good grasp on audience segmentation concepts.
Good understanding of current Marketing technologies and their applications to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
Understanding of building brand in a mobile first / data driven world
Relentless focus on business outcome, with good analytical skills.
Good understanding of the Google and Facebook environment. Snapcht and Spotify are not necessary but considered an advantage.
Entrepreneurial spirit / “Day 1” mindset
Educated to degree level. Analytics/ Computer science related degree would be a plus.
Ability to simply frame complex arguments.
Strong knowledge of media landscape.
Ecommerce or Retail experience a plus
Must be sensitive to cultural issues in different countries and a good team player.
Strong management and communication skills
Ability to inspire and influence in a matrix environment
Ability to large and multiple projects across a range of digital channels.
Experience in delivering digital transformation projects.
Good understanding of Martech landscape
Consultancy or client side experience a plus
