We are McDonald’s UK Strategic Retail agency, delivering the retail experience for nearly 4 million customers every day. Brands live, grow or die based on the customer experience they provide – how they serve, what they serve and what they say to their customers. The restaurant, and everything in it, is the most immediate point of connection to the brand, providing a tangible brand experience.
Our remit is incredibly varied and is focussed on the four key areas that define the customer experience: Food, People, Environment and Comms. We are an extension of their Marketing Team and work in an integrated fashion with our partner agencies to lead all Brand Participation activities (e.g. Monopoly at McDonald’s and other promotional mechanics). We provide all BTL marketing activation including digital, partnerships and direct.
Monopoly at McDonald’s is by far the largest and most integrated campaign that we deliver for McDonald’s every year (2019 will be its 14th year in the UK and 4th year in the Republic of Ireland). It’s also the biggest campaign that the McDonald’s Marketing team deliver within their calendar! As the lead agency for Monopoly, we take great pride in delivering sales beating Monopoly campaigns year on year. At TMS, we take on full campaign delivery, including digital and social media.
This role is primarily responsible for delivering the execution of the Monopoly campaign for the UK (in alignment with Republic of Ireland). This includes: Monopoly campaign concept development, mechanic generation, partner negotiations and prize pool development, legal processes (from facilitating approvals on creative work, to helping develop the promotional Terms & Conditions), developing all the promotional packaging and in-store POP kits (print & digital), as well as ad hoc support to the UK TMS Client Service team to deliver the website development, online advertising and social media comms, specifically within the UK market.
Outside of Monopoly, there’s the opportunity to sink your teeth into other projects, working from concept development through implementation to post activity evaluation on all campaigns and brand planning activity.
The role will also involve managing, motivating and mentoring an Account Executive whilst delivering projects together.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE AGENCY
Client & Team Partnership
Develop a strong relationship with McDonald’s Client Partners (across multiple levels from Marketing Manager to Brand Assistant, and across all functions from Marketing to Customer Services to Operations)
Demonstrate an understanding of the FMCG and Informal Eating Out Retail Sectors in order to apply insight and understanding to positively impact McDonald’s business
Display a passion for Monopoly and a willingness to deliver another award-winning, record breaking promotion as part of a wider team
Work closely not just with your Account Director and a Senior Account Manager but also across agency teams (Production, Creative & Digital) to plan, develop and execute the Monopoly promotion and any other Brand activations
Taking overall responsibility for a specific project area of the Monopoly campaign and ensure the wider team and the Client are kept informed
Proactively and independently deliver your specific Monopoly project area in a fast-paced environment, ensuring delivery is on time and within budget
Demonstrate a collaborative approach– working effectively across agency and Client departments (3rd party agencies, sister agencies, legal, operations, production, creative, digital etc)
Demonstrate a strong ability to multi-task, juggling priorities and managing time effectively
Proactively provide timely project status information and contact reports for line manager and the wider team
Regularly updating traffic/project managers and wider team members to allow for effective management of internal resource
Demonstrate an appetite to broaden experience outside of the assigned day-to-day
Excellent attention to detail
Demonstrate aptitude in the management and development of an Account Executive
Ensure Account Director and Senior Account Manager and wider team are kept regularly informed and any key decisions are made as a team
Play a broader role across the client service team in seeking out opportunities to inspire, educate and coach the team.
The all-important numbers bit
Show an aptitude for understanding the overall Monopoly Master budget and working alongside your SAM / AD and the appropriate internal team (Production, Game Ops, Digital) to prepare the relevant cost areas of the project
For smaller brand activation projects, managing day-to-day projects costs through effective financial planning and management incl. preparing quotes and budgets for internal approval, regular tracking of hours spent on projects vs. estimates to drive profitability and presenting and updating budgets for Client approval
Raising the required PO’s and Invoices to keep on track with the agreed Project Billing Schedules for the specific project areas under your management
Desired Skills & Experience
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO HAVE
You’ll currently be a strong Account Manager in an integrated agency environment
Experience of working with a creative department and knowledge of the production process
Strong IT skills (MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Have excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Have excellent writing skills
Have great presentation skills (writing and delivering)
Be able to express ideas with clarity, confidence and logical reasoning
Possess strong financial acumen
Be fantastic at project and resource management
Appreciate great creative work
Work well under pressure
Have an understanding of the Informal Eating Out sector, FMCG and retail sectors
Any of the following would be a plus
Experience of delivering digital campaigns
Marketing qualifications (e.g. ISP, IDM, CIM, IPM) desirable
