We are looking for a Packaging Assistant Buyer to join our central Sourcing, Ethical and Packaging Team.
This is a high profile, varied, and “customer facing” role, interacting with buying teams, from all areas of the business- Womens, Mens and Kidswear- and across all product ranges.
You will be working with our nominated suppliers to ensure that the right Branded packaging and labels are available, in the right location and on time to support our product deliveries.
This role would be an exciting opportunity for an experienced Assistant Buyer or Merchandiser, who is looking to broaden their experience, whilst utilising their existing skills.
If you love the “end-to-end” buying process; you have a good understanding of the critical path; are confident with compiling forecasts, and managing orders; are organised and yet approachable; enjoy problem solving, and identifying improved ways of working…this could be the job for you.
Have a good understanding of our brand and customer, across all product areas
Visit our stores regularly to review product, packaging and branding to check quality and standards
Understand the product development and order processes; and critical path
Understand product and packaging lead times
First point of contact for nominated packaging supplier queries, and packaging order process
Support packaging Buyer to ensure stock is available in required location, and on time
Manage departmental Packaging Forecasts and Orders; Packaging supplier invoicing; and obsolete stocks
Support Sourcing and Packaging team business objectives and projects (including Sustainability; product engineering; RFID ..)
Support the development of “close to needlepoint” supply in new strategic sourcing locations
Buying Support and information
Deal with day- to- day queries from the buying and merchandising teams: seek to resolve, or escalate any issues with the Packaging and Sourcing team
Build strong relationships with the Shipping; Legal; Accounts; Technical and other River Island teams
Manage all Packaging content on River Island shared drive and ensure it is up-to-date; accurate; informative and accessible (eg: catalogue/price list; Packaging Stock Report; packaging process and User Guides).
Seek to continually improve the efficiency of Packaging team support, and presentation of information, to the buying teams and suppliers
Presentations and Branded Packaging Training for new joiners, and to support the roll out of business initiatives
