The BBC’s Central Editorial team sits at the heart of the BBC, Online and powers digital products seen by millions of people across the UK every day. Based at BBC North in Salford, we connect audiences across the UK with the BBC's content on desktop, mobile, tablet, Red Button and Connected TV.
We produce the bbc.co.uk Homepage, trusted by 8m people a week to take them to the best of the BBC’s online offering. We also support the pan-BBC search engine, and promote Red Button services used by more than 17m people a week.
The team is evolving to support innovative new products, and further develop its mission to bring the best of the BBC to audiences, whatever their interests, wherever they are, every hour of every day.
Members of this team work on a wide range of editorial production, monitoring and research tasks. One day, you could be working on our busy live desk finding and promoting timely and relevant content on the bbc. co. uk Homepage; the next you could be working with editorial teams across the BBC to source great content for upcoming seasons and events. The week after that, you could be finding, creating and editing images to illustrate the BBC’s Radio programmes or producing promotions on our connected TV services.
You’ll ensure that all types of content delivered to audiences are relevant, appealing, accurate and of a high standard. You’ll also monitor and ensure the successful and editorially compliant delivery of bbc. co. uk central services - Search, Homepage, Red Button and iPlayer Radio.
Are you the right candidate?
You’ll have an up-to-date understanding of and passion for the full range of content on bbc. co. uk. You’ll have excellent digital content production skills and demonstrable editorial and creative flair. You will have picture editing skills and a proven ability to choose compelling imagery to illustrate a range of content. You’ll be able to demonstrate that you can use audience research and data to inform and improve your editorial choices and decisions.
Supplementing this will be your proven experience of meeting both operational and editorial demands. You’ll also show experience of identifying and responding appropriately to editorial and legal issues and managing and recording their timely and satisfactory resolution.

The situation regarding the coronavirus outbreak is developing quickly and the BBC is keen to continue to ensure the safety and wellbeing of people across the BBC, while continuing to protect our services.
