The Luxury publishing division at Hearst Magazines UK is home to some of the world's most iconic and successful magazine brands including Harper's Bazaar and Town & Country. We pride ourselves on giving our readers outstanding quality journalism, originality and unforgettable brand experiences all delivered with passion, creativity and expertise.
Reporting into the Group Luxury Beauty Director you will work across Harper's Bazaar and Town & Country to produce innovative beauty ideas and fresh content across the print and digital platforms. You may also be asked to deliver on commercial activities, including events, beauty boxes and advertorials.
Key responsibilities
• Generate fresh ideas, both features and visuals for Harper's Bazaar and Town & Country
• Write beauty features for both titles to deadline as per workflow decided by Group Beauty Director and contribute to online as needed, and at least once a week
• Organise still life shoots as required and assist with model shoots when needed
• Call in products and PR shots as required
• Keep abreast of trends and product launches and share commercial opportunities with GBD, or pass to other staff as directed by GBD
• Look out for potential re-use across Hearst titles
• Maintain communication between beauty desk and other magazine departments
• Overseeing beauty box initiative, working alongside marketing team
• Work closely with the commercial team to deliver on budgets and content targets, beauty advertorials and other commercial copy
• Take part in beauty events when required (this may include occasional evenings and weekends)
• Attend beauty trips, often internationally, and beauty launches regularly at GBD's discretion
• Forge strong relationships with beauty PR's, and in particular those from key brand partners
• Have a strong social media presence.
About You
• Previous experience as a beauty writer or beauty editor in a commercial magazine environment
• Passion, enthusiasm and understanding of both titles
• Team player with a can-do attitude
• Excellent organisational skills
• Excellent writing skills
• Good visual skills
• Excellent contacts and industry knowledge
• Good communication skills
