M&S Food is changing, and fast! We are undergoing one of the biggest transformations in retailing today to build a bigger, better, fresher food business.
As Brand & Marketing Manager Foods building ownable Brands that customers can only get at M&S will be your mission to drive footfall and loyalty.
Your key accountabilities will include
  • To leverage insight to build a detailed understanding of your target customer, your category segmentation and your brand architecture
  • To use customer insight to build compelling brand propositions, guardrails and growth plans
  • To build effective relationships with key stakeholders in Product and Trading to influence brand NPD pipeline
  • To lead customer communication of your own brands across all Food marketing channels including in-store. Where appropriate, effectively integrate brands into seasonal events and Phase initiatives
  • Build distinctive brand assets to drive memorability and brand equity including development of design and execution of brand design cascade
  • To inform and navigate your brands through the business’ Good Better Best tiering and relevant category resets

  • Product Development – Heads of Product, Product Development Managers, Trends Manager
  • Trading – Heads of Trading, Trading Managers, Buyers, Pricing & Promotions, SRD
  • Technical – Nutritional Team, Technical Managers
  • Customer Insight
  • Marketing – especially Category Marketing, Seasonal Events, Communications and Design Studio
  • Legal and trademarks
  • Agencies - Schawk
Key skills/preferred experience
  • Understanding how to deliver results through a complex matrix structure without direct organisational power
  • Solid experience influencing senior stakeholders
  • Ability to act at pace and make decisions on the fly
  • Ability to balance data and intuition to solve problems and make quick decisions
  • Resilience in the face of change
  • Degree in Marketing or Business
Ideally you will also have
  • Experience managing the development of new brands on small budgets
  • Brand strategy and architecture development experience
  • Packaging design experience
