The Role:
We are looking for a commercially driven, entrepreneurial and accountable Business Director to join Grey London on a 4-month fixed-term contract from late November 2020 until February/March 2021.
As a Business Director at Grey, you’ll need to not only make sure the work happens, but that the work works. You’ll have the opportunity to help set the creative agenda through channeling your understanding of your client’s commercial challenges and building a cultural ambition for the work against this. We’ll be looking to you to help nurture a cross-discipline team that people want to be part of.
Day-to-day, your key responsibilities will be:
  • Acting as the primary lead client contact across the three brands. This means being in constant communication with the lead clients to ensure work is steered to a successful conclusion – keeping in mind objectives, strategic direction set and protecting the integrity of the creative idea to deliver the objectives.
  • Lead client conversations where appropriate and help manage and resolve challenging conversations.
  • Internally, you will lead, oversee and support the strategic development and creative implementation of campaigns. Ensure the campaign objectives are delivered upon, whilst protecting the creative idea to deliver them. Guide and counsel the internal team delivering the work, helping to simplify, focus and prioritise internal resource, tasks and deliverables as required.
  • Manage the account commercials – ensuring budgets are managed effectively, efficiently and accurately. Ensure scope of work is accurate, delivered and reported against.
  • Ensure our dealings with client partner agencies are positive – collaboration is high; challenge is positive and always in the spirit of supporting the idea and client; flow of information is timely, open; relationships are positive and robust.
The Accounts:
Vodafone Ireland: Grey have worked with Vodafone Ireland since 2010 and they are a brilliant client, who are very collaborative.  They are creatively ambitious and have recently appointed a new Head of Brand to their team. Our objective this year is to make a real step change creatively. You’ll join at a point when the strategic planning for 2021 will be concluding and the creative brief developed and in the department. From December to February, our focus will be on moving the work from concept to production (for delivery in April). Our timelines are ambitious, but achievable. With this client, outstanding creativity and seamless delivery are paramount. The media plan is traditional – TV, OOH, digital – but there’s opportunity to find moments of innovation which the client will invest in. Your Managing Partner will stay very close to the account to help you succeed.
We hold the global account for Tuborg, with work being developed and delivered in both London and Hong Kong. Our primary focus is the Tuborg Open campaign – Tuborg’s long running music platform. You’ll join as we finalise creative and move to production planning and production (with delivery in March/April). This is a digital first account with multiple agency, talent and client stakeholders. As a global piece of business, connection with Grey Hong Kong is critical to ensure the Equity and Open campaigns are brand consistent.
Helly Hansen
We’ve worked with Helly Hansen for 6 years and our work spans brand, digital, and retail, both bricks and mortar as well as ecommerce. You’ll join as we go into production on Fall Winter ‘21 season campaign and creative development on Spring Summer ‘22. Primary focus is ensuring a cohesive, robust and integrated delivery of ideas – working into a long-standing brand idea and professional RTB.
We will be looking for someone who:
  • Has experience as an Business Director in a large, fast-paced agency
  • Has demonstrable experience working on and leading multiple campaigns, with a proven track record of delivering clear account development & growth
  • Has experience leading integrated accounts, with a focus on digital, with a capacity to take on lots of moving parts and simplify/prioritise
  • Is strategically strong and able to articulate the brand strategy and how this shapes the creative
  • Is excellent at fostering strong client relationships
  • Is able to manage large-scale projects, both internal and external, with strong commercial acumen
