As Challenge Events Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for project delivery of high-profile fundraising challenges as part of the Red Nose Day 2021 campaigns. You will matrix manage internal project teams and manage relationships with external delivery partners to coordinate all aspects of challenges both during the planning phase and throughout the live event on the ground.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead project teams of internal and external stakeholders and suppliers to ensure all aspects of the challenge are delivered effectively and against objectives
  • Plan all aspects of the challenge event project from initiation through to delivery and debrief, and ensure smooth delivery through the ongoing management, evaluation and communication of clear project plans
  • Defining roles, responsibilities and objectives (where appropriate) of team members and providing strong and motivational leadership to the project team
  • Overall responsibility for the identification and management of project risks, issues, and dependencies
  • Ensuring the effective communication of and adherence to action plans
  • Providing regular progress updates and reports to the Challenge Events Manager and other senior stakeholders as required, both internal and external
  • Actively manage the day to day relationship with external delivery partners to ensure safe and successful development and delivery - this could include integration of external media broadcast outlets or television production companies
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop live event plans, logistics, risk assessments, live content requirements, communications plans and content delivery (e.g. logistics of film crews, photographers)
  • Monitor event plans and resource allocation throughout the lifecycle to ensure they are adapting to changing circumstances and new opportunities
  • Manage the challenge budget; ensure spend is monitored, controlled and reported, and identify and leverage opportunities for blagging to aid low cost delivery
  • Processing invoices and ensuring all financial processes and procedures are followed
  • Work with the wider Public Fundraising and Corporate Partnerships team to maximise income across all celebrity challenge events
  • Ensure appropriate health & safety and risk management considerations are incorporated into and actively managed during the challenge
  • Work with stakeholders to develop and review comprehensive crisis management plans
  • Build and maintain relationships with kit suppliers, ensuring each relationship remains mutually beneficial
  • Manage the branding of the challenge and kit with input and approval from BBC Editorial Policy, Marketing, Creative & Corporate & delivery partner
  • Overall responsibility for delivery of the live event, including management of internal and external delivery and production teams
  • Monitor, share and evaluate delivery, capture lessons learned and make recommendations for future improvements

Essential Education and Competencies:

  • Strong experience of project management at a senior level in high pressure environments with proven ability to deliver on time and on budget
  • Excellent organisational and resource management skills
  • Experience of effectively monitoring and controlling budgets
  • Demonstrable experience of planning and deliverying high profile live events involving multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Skilled user of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook
  • Collaborative worker who is skilled at managing large teams with multiple workstreams
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels
  • Effective relationship builder with strong stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to use initiative and make critical decisions under pressure
  • Resilient and calm under pressure with the ability to stay the course during the height of delivery
