The NIKE, Inc. Communications team develops, establishes and strengthens authentic connections with diverse audiences through the lens of innovation and sport. Based within the London office as part of the Communications Team, this role will report directly to the Communications Director EMEA WEST/London.
The role will primarily focus on the Nike Sportswear and NRG categories which focus on London lifestyle, fashion and culture, and Nike's place within this. The role will also have scope for wider responsibility within the function and on other projects where applicable.
The Communications Manager for Nike Sportswear will:
  • Be a great story-teller: curate and deliver authentic and compelling stories and build narrative around product and initiatives to enhance the brand's connection and relevance to consumers.
  • Be connected: hold strong, authentic and productive relationships with key lifestyle, trend, sneaker and fashion media & platforms and influencers shaping conversation and activity across the city.
  • Be creative: push the boundaries, be bold, progressive and inspirational. Continually strive to challenge the traditional and constantly explore new ways in which to connect with consumers and influencers in London.
  • Be relevant: be plugged into the evolving and progressive trends across fashion, culture and sport that are shaping this city. From fashion collaborations to new media partners and cultural shifts in behavior we need to constantly lead.
  • Be local: understand what is important to young Londoners, how they move around the city, what interests them, what engages them, what their interests are and what trends/activity they're shaping.
  • Be collaborative: work with multiple internal and external stakeholders to plan and execute brilliant activity around integrated projects.
  • Be an editor: know what is not a story and be confident to push back with a considered rationale
  • Be a manager: manage and work with multiple communications/creative agency partners.
  • Be a team player: work on your own initiative and/or alongside the EMEA West/London communications team to project manage events and activities including photoshoots, media partnerships, press conferences.
  • Minimum of five years-experience working in consumer lifestyle/sport/fashion sector, ideally in London.
  • Proven lifestyle, style and fashion media & influencer contacts are essential for this role (across all outputs: print, broadcast, digital & social, independent publishers).
  • A consumer driven approach, challenging ideas and strategies with insights - must be willing to take (calculated) risks and not be afraid of putting forward and executing new ideas/ways of producing & delivering content.
  • A digital mindset to cope with our ever-changing landscape of touchpoints, publishers and influencers.
  • Strategic in approach & planning and creative in execution.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time effectively.
  • Combine creativity with strong organisational skills.
  • A passion for the Nike brand, sport and lifestyle of sport.
  • Culturally aware & ability to identify trends - especially within London media/influencers/consumer area.
  • Over-riding desire to deliver results (quality & quantity!).
  • Effective budget management.
