Description

WhatsApp is looking for a communications manager to join team in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa). The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting our communications goals for EMEA and devising and implementing campaigns in countries across the region that demonstrate the joy of using WhatsApp. They will also highlight our growing products for businesses, and educate people about our privacy and security features, including end-to-end encryption. We are looking for someone who brings relationships with media and opinion leaders and has a proven track record of executing high-profile, creative campaigns across regions, and also of handling corporate issues and time-sensitive crisis communications. This is a hands-on role with significant day-to-day responsibilities in one of our most important regions. The role will work closely with the Head of Communications in EMEA, who is based in London.
Communications Manager, EMEA (WhatsApp) Responsibilities
  • Support the communications strategy for WhatsApp in EMEA to drive brand love for WhatsApp, promote our growing tools for businesses, and our commitment to the privacy and security of our users
  • Execute a variety of public relations initiatives - from proactive pitches highlighting positive uses of the product to feature launches, partnerships or marketing campaigns, as well as handling issues as they arise
  • Manage external PR agencies to support these efforts
  • Develop and maintain relationships with media and opinion leaders
  • Work with cross-functional teams both in London - to include policy and partnerships - as well as leaders in California.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Extensive professional experience in communications and public relations in the UK or EMEA region
  • Experience working with tech, corporate, and mass media including a track record of developing campaigns that have achieved their goals
  • A well-organised team player who has proven abilities to plan and deliver multi-country campaigns by working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders in cross-functional teams
  • Experience dealing with high-profile crisis communications
  • Excellent communications and decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in communications, journalism, or related field
  • Second European language a bonus (French, German, Spanish or Italian)
  • Professional PR experience in both agency and in-house environments
