At a glance:
  • Salary range - We have a budgeted salary of up to £40,000
  • Contract type - This position is a permanent contract

The Partnership has adopted a blended working approach meaning you'll be able to work a mixture between the office and home based upon your personal needs whilst balancing the needs of the business. The Communications team aim for around 2 to 3 days a week in the office to connect and on a more ad-hoc basis to attend key meetings but again, are flexible on this.
  • Location - This role is based at our Bracknell Head Office campus. Please note, any cost incurred as a result of travel to the office is the responsibility of the successful candidate. There is no travel allowance for this role.
About the role:
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Communications Officer to join the External Communications team, as part of the Waitrose Brand & Lifestyle Team. The team is responsible for all aspects of the external communications strategy for the brand. Our clear ambition for communications: to be the conscience of the business and champion of the brands.
This is brought to life across multiple fronts, with a communications programme that leverages progressive business initiatives, builds celebratory feel-good moments, campaigns with passion from a position of strength, scale and responsibility, maintains a drumbeat of positive storytelling, and works hard to mitigate potential risks. Activity must continue to reach multiple audiences, both online and offline, amplifying and deepening customer marketing activity and messaging delivered above the line.
What will you be doing?
You’ll be joining a team of Partners that are experts in media and influencer relations. The role will be perfect for an organised, self-starting individual with relevant communications experience.
The role supports the Senior Communications Manager and the Brand Comms team, working across multiple comms campaigns and media events to secure positive coverage for the brand, raising awareness and landing key messages.
You will be responsible for the planning, delivery and evaluation of these campaigns and launches.
Building effective relationships with media and influencers as well as internal stakeholders to deliver creative, market leading projects at pace.
Essential skills you’ll need:
  • Previous experience working either in-house or with a public relations agency and a real passion to succeed in the comms industry
  • Experience delivering successful PR campaigns and media events
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the media and influencers, already having established relationships and a desire to build more
  • Organised with excellent attention to detail and works well under pressure
  • Very good writing and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate with clarity and at pace
  • Ideally have experience or a keen interest in food & drink and/or retail
Desirable skills you’ll have:
  • Be an enthusiastic, organised, proactive self starter with a creative flare
  • A keen interest in social media, emerging platforms and content creation
  • Experience with influencer contracting
  • Experience with media and influencer evaluation
