About the role

We’re looking for a Director to join our Content and Innovation team. In the role, you will be responsible for crafting, pitching and bringing to life custom initiatives for our clients.  From branded content,  rightsholder partnerships, creator collaborations and brand experiences, our focus is on making sure we get the big ideas out into the real world.  We need you to be a self-starter, have a point of view and lead from the front. Established in 2018 this is a relatively new team within the industry and you will be integral to building and shaping our offering in 2020 and beyond.
We are looking for a candidate with  a track record of creating, articulating and delivering best in class content solutions and custom activations. You will be confident in identifying trends and applying data to shape your thinking and recommendations. You will have a range of industry contacts and will be comfortable championing the role for content and custom to senior stakeholders, both internally and externally. As a small team we need you to be happy to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in, where necessary to support the project management lead to ensure the activation exceeds expectations.
Our client roster includes household names such as Google, L’Oreal, ITV, Nando’s and more.

Some of the things we’d like you to do

  • Champion the role for custom activations and partnership amongst clients and colleagues
  • Drive big ideas that excite and surprise clients and are rooted in insights and data.
  • Serve as a senior point of contact, building senior relationships with clients and industry stakeholders
  • Translate and manage client marketing objectives and mandates throughout the content development process.
  • Manage key documentation e.g  scope of works , budgets, contracts, and PCA’s, etc.
  • Meet regularly with publishers, brand studios, content creators, platforms and rightsholders, so that you cultivate strategic relationships and are able to source opportunities that proactively deliver on client business objectives.
  • Have a point of view and stay connected to relevant marketplace trends, authoring client requested and proactive points-of-views.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, including Planning, Activation, Strategy and Analytics, to ensure holistic campaign planning.
  • Oversee junior team members day-to-day responsibilities, whilst providing strategic oversight and coaching.
  • Build practice, assisting to expand team and capabilities, identifying new revenue streams and processes to drive efficiency as well as creating new territories for C+I to operate within.
  • Strong commercial acumen, comfortable navigating custom contracts and clear understanding of the commercial structure of deals
  • Able to identify other revenue opportunities for wider Essence disciplines such as digital creative, paid social and organic performance (SEO)

  • 7+ years professional experience
  • Background in media, marketing, advertising, agencies, production, creative, or the arts
  • Interest in how the content landscape is evolving AR, VR, creators and the impact of ecommerce
  • Understanding of the role of organic seo, social and digital to create a thriving content ecosystem
  • Demonstrate strong commercial acumen
  • Ability to pivot and adjust to a fast paced, ever changing environment
