The Penguin Random House Children's team are looking for an experienced Copy-Editor to join them in this position on a permanent basis. The team is growing and you will be given the opportunity to work with a wide range of exciting and attractive titles featuring both the outstanding artwork and educational principals the Ladybird brand is famous for.
Supporting the Assistant Editorial Manager, you will copy-edit, proofread and oversee copy-editing, primarily for the Ladybird Education list, with support to the wider Ladybird Trade team as appropriate. Using your passion and experience, you'll ensure that copy is error-free, clear, concise, consistent, fun and informative.
Impeccable spelling and grammar and excellent attention to detail are essential, as your daily tasks will include: copy-editing and proofreading to the highest possible standards; maintaining editorial standards according to house, series and brand style; checking copyright and imprint information is correct; briefing and liaising with freelancers and ensuring editorial system data is updated appropriately.
You'll also provide occasional proofreading support across the wider Ladybird copy-editorial team to support busy periods and holiday.
This is a fantastic role for someone with previous experience of copy-editing and proofreading who thrives on managing their own workload and taking the initiative.
Backed by a friendly and dynamic team, while your main focus will be our education list, you will be given the scope to contribute your knowledge across a varied and wide-ranging breadth of projects, titles and brands.
To be considered for this role you will have strong previous experience within children's educational publishing, copy-editing and proofreading. Exposure to children's licensed publishing or ELT is also beneficial.
Please apply with a CV and Cover Letter by midnight on Friday 20th September 2019.
Please note, we are not able to accept agency CV's for this role. Any CV's sent speculatively, will not be eligible for a fee.
