We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented in-house Copywriter. The Stella McCartney tone of voice is key to our brand storytelling and character, capturing the essence of who we are. Our Copywriter will use their exceptional talent, expertise and creativity to maintain and evolve our voice through original, fresh and engaging writing. As a brand we continue to push the boundaries in luxury fashion and we need a Copywriter who can sustain and bolster that energy in a creative-writing capacity.
As Copywriter, you will be a prolific multi-tasker working closely with various departments to build and develop strong relationships, creating seasonal and non-seasonal messaging to root the Stella voice firmly throughout our global brand categories. Each collection has a unique character and demands a diligent copywriter to convey that spirit in digital and non-digital spheres without losing clarity, coherence or our signature playfulness. You will be tasked with developing and applying copy guidelines to ensure brand alignment and correct use of that voice.
Our brand voice is heard in all of the following communication streams and these core aspects will make up the bulk of your writing responsibilities:
Social media
  • As a savvy writer capable of speaking confidently to target audiences, you will drive and edit copy for our multiple social media accounts: an intrinsic part of our business and content strategy for all categories.
  • You must be highly reactive and have a strong sense of social media trends in order to maintain a cool and current voice for our accounts. You should also be ready to compose eloquent responses to queries and customer questions.
Ecommerce & marketing
  • With a proven record in writing commercial yet engaging copy, you will work closely with our Ecommerce team on newsletter campaigns, homepage and landing page messaging to speak to our consumer and drive sales, as well as a extending our brand voice to online POS via all product descriptions.
  • Exercising your knack for producing digitally optimised copy, your responsibilities extend to delivering all copy for programmatic, retargeting and dynamic ads and META descriptions.
  • Monitoring performance throughout is essential to learn from insights and evolve through A-B testing.
  • You will collaborate with the Marketing team on all seasonal campaign copy, including special projects, exclusive client communications, product marketing, events, in-store activations and tactical campaigns.
  • The ownership of voice reaches any necessary wholesale and third party support across all channels, ensuring alignment of written brand structure.
Online brand content
  • As Copywriter you are key to conveying our brand identity and will work with Image and Design teams to fulfil your role. Working across both teams you will deliver collection stories to set the tone for the season as well as create sets of guidelines for external partners and internal purposes.
  • Other responsibilities include product labelling and occasional copy creation in line with development for creative concepts. There is a further occasional requirement to collaborate with the Design team on product naming themes and ideas.
  • Our online editorial platform, Stella’s World, is one of our key consumer-facing communication tools that you will continually update with insightful brand news, editorial features, seasonal collection stories and partnership initiatives.
  • You will need to have a strong perception of what makes writing cool and current to reflect the quality of content we produce. Overseeing all localised editorial content, you will work with regional teams to achieve the correct tone of voice in select markets and build localised copy manuals.
  • Our ever-growing sustainability and innovation initiatives also demand lively and clear writing skills to communicate our efforts effectively. Your will work closely with the Head of Sustainability on special projects and building and online environmental learning resource.
  • As we continue to align tone of voice throughout our brand, you will need to deliver ad-hoc messaging for bricks-and-mortar stores and general POS.
Ideal candidate
  • You are a confident individual with a positive ethos, having of demonstrating a high level of skill as a copywriter or editor for 3 to 5 years at a premium or luxury brand.
  • With a creative flare, you will be able to exercise your writing skills to fulfil the role of Copywriter to an exceptional degree. Your writing must feel natural and dynamic in order to capture our unique spirit.
  • A thorough grounding in digital media and writing for the digital sphere with a sound ambition to evolve and trail-blaze. An ability to balance projects and meet tight deadlines while also maintaining a meticulous eye for detail is essential, as well as having flexibility and adaptability.
  • Most of all, you are passionate and willing to delve into every corner of our business to truly define our voice.
