The Smalls is looking for a Creative Director (maternity cover) to lead its diverse and fast-paced creative department. The Creative Studio is an established part of The Smalls’ structure, and your role will be equally divided between crafting pitches for prospective creative productions and managing the quality of existing creative productions. This is a global position, spanning across our UK and Singapore offices.
The Creative Studio has both enabled The Smalls to pitch for (and win!) exciting creative video projects for impressive global agencies and brands, while establishing an internal review process that ensures clients are only presented with best in class video executions.
Therefore, key areas of the required skill set involves A) being able to conceptualise, communicate and present exciting new video ideas across a variety of potential clients and themes in deck form (expanding upon said ideas with treatments, screenplays or storyboards when necessary) and B) being able to creatively guide key video projects through the post-production process - ensuring videos are visually excellent and narratives are engaging and strategically sound before edits reach the client.
You will be joining an award-winning team of producers, client services and sales managers, with both an office in Shoreditch and flexible remote working options. You will manage a part-time creative, who will report into you.
The Smalls - Creative Director:
Develop creative concepts for incoming video content briefs - forming imaginative pitches to clients in a clear and concise manner, aiding in the conversion of briefs to business
To be able to do the above across multiple markets (Europe, APAC and the US) and budgets (whether 10k, 100k or beyond)
Understand best in class content according to social platform and audience data/attention spans (and how this varies per market) - developing concepts and guiding post-production with this at the forefront of mind
Be comfortable with pitching ideas to and attending brainstorms with key clients
Form trusting relationships with key clients, offering education and advice regarding best in class creative, to establish trust and produce the best possible video products
Be able to manage and guide creative partners to deliver video excellence during the production phase (whether reworking scripts, attending shoots, combing through edits, etc)
Have a keen visual eye and strong knack for storytelling in order to act as the gatekeeper for quality control and the last pair of eyeballs before key videos reach the client
Manage a part-time creative - from approving key decks and projects to managing workload
Support the sales, client services and production teams and think on your feet when it comes to efficient and effective creative problem solving for prospective and existing video content
Act as The Smalls brand guardian, ensuring that all public-facing assets reflect The Smalls brand and values
