Job Introduction
The Deputy Editor will report directly into the editor and will be an invaluable member of an incredibly busy team. The ultimate role will be to assist and support the editor in all aspects of the day to day running of the magazine so the key vision for OK is met. The successful candidate will also be responsible for working directly with the Digital Content director to deliver online content of the highest quality
We are looking for an experienced editor with a creative flair for knowing a brilliant celebrity story and how to secure it exclusively for OK magazine. He or she must have an excellent knowledge of the celebrity market and great relationships with celebrity agents and contacts, demonstrating an ability to bring in exclusive content that sets us apart from our competitors.
You will be working directly with the associate editor, overseeing the day to day management of the news team and ensuring content is of the highest quality and that all deadlines are met.
You will be highly organised, enthusiastic and diligent with a strong understanding of what makes a brilliant feature and news story, compelling headline and attention grabbing layout.
The ability to lead and manage a team and work well under pressure is essential. The successful candidate must also be able to multi task and prioritise effectively with excellent diary management as to what events OK should be covering and where we should be represented.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading a daily conference with the editor to decide on content for the magazine.
  • Liaising with agents and setting up regular meetings to secure exclusive stories.
  • Proofreading and signing off pages, ensuring all legal issues are dealt with. Working closely with the digital team ensuring all exclusive OK magazine content is multi-platform.
  • Keeping abreast of all celebrity and PR events for writers to attend.
  • Representing the magazine at high profile events and weddings.
  • Assisting the editor with all budget requirements.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Previous experience of a fast paced newsroom or magazine as well as previous experience of directly managing a team.
  • Proven ability of breaking exclusives
  • Flexible attitude to change in an ever increasing competitive celebrity market
  • Excellent knowledge of the celebrity market and what makes a brilliant OK exclusive.
