Do you love design and do you love books? Are you looking for a career as a creative designer in publishing?
Ladybird has three distinct areas of publishing: Licensing, Education and Trade and all of our lists are much admired for their positioning, aesthetic and clever creativity.
On our Licensing and Education lists our designers work across a broad range of publishing formats, content and brands with a variety of illustration, photography and style guides. We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic and organised individual to assist our design team.
As Design Assistant you'll work with a number of designers and editors across the team providing design and admin support. Day-to-day you'll be responsible for tasks ranging from producing mock-ups, updating brand sheets and correcting files to creatively designing previously published books into fresh new formats and working on your own projects where appropriate.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our busy team. It's a fast-paced role, so you'll need to be efficient, adaptable and a strong, clear communicator.
This is an entry level position but you should be able to demonstrate a keen design eye, good typographic skills and creative flair. You'll be a fluent user of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, with a working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Previous experience of working in a design studio would be beneficial.
It's an exciting time to join Ladybird - p lease apply with a PDF that showcases the three examples of your work that you are most proud of, a CV and a short letter which tells us why this role caught your eye (both also in PDF format).
The closing date for this opportunity is midnight on Sunday 6 th October 2019.
We partner with The Book Trade Charity who offer financial support to people looking to enter the book trade but who may struggle to afford the costs of attending interviews and undertaking internships. For more information visit www.booktradeentrysupport.org.
