BBC Studios is a global creative powerhouse for the development, production and distribution of bold, British, content. We produce over 2,500 hours of content per year, operate in 22 markets globally and generate revenue of £1.4bn, returning around £200m profit to BBC public Service each year. In the UK, BBC Studios enables audiences to enjoy their favourite BBC programmes and brands outside the licence fee-funded window on alternative platforms, through a range of partnerships, and in multiple formats, from products and magazines to events and experiences.
We have an opportunity for a Designer to join the Digital Artwork team, who are responsible for supplying digital key art for a range of global clients to support DTO (Download to Own) and VOD (Video on Demand) television sales.
Please note that applications will only be considered if a portfolio has been included or a portfolio link provided.
The Designer will be a core member of the Digital Artwork team, collaborating with one other designer and reporting into the Production Co-ordinator and Production Manager.
The main responsibility of the role is to reversion digital iconic artwork to suit the platform spec requirements of a wide range of global clients. This will involve collaborating with the Production Co-ordinator to gain access to materials, respond to creative feedback, troubleshoot issues and manage asset filing and delivery.
When required, the Designer will respond creatively to various brands by conducting image research and designing title treatments from scratch via Adobe Illustrator. Restoring imagery for classic catalogue BBC titles and outputting at the correct resolution will also be needed on occasion.
You will be expected to pick up projects independently and manage delivery expectations. The Designer will keep up to date with design trends and actively source imagery that can help the team's creative development within the competitive DTO/VOD market.
Are you the right candidate?
To be successful for this role you must have an awareness and understanding of Graphic Design equipment and file management procedures. It is essential that you have strong knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, and it would also be advantageous to have an understanding of Illustrator.
In this role you will be serving multiple global clients, therefore you should be confident in rapidly familiarising yourself with a range of individual design requirements and BBC branding applications. You should have a knowledge of types and fonts for the application of title translations on artwork.
This team responds to a high volume of artwork requests, therefore you must be self-motivated with the ability to use your initiative and respond well to multiple deadlines. Attention to detail, a self-starting attitude and a strong creative mind are required.
