Purpose of Role
To help support the continuous output of high quality, targeted digital communications from Dementia UK, across all channels. Working closely with the Digital Communications Lead and Digital Marketing Executive, as well as the wider marketing and communications team, the Digital Marketing Assistant will help support Dementia UK’s digital and content strategies, upholding and furthering the charity’s values and strategic aims across our website and social media content. This is an exciting and great role to learn and develop your skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Editing and publication of content on the website as directed by the Digital Communications Lead
  • Support the Digital Communications Lead in managing technical aspects of the website. For example, creating friendly urls (redirects) for campaigns, creating forms, creating web pages, making sure the web pages have the right website structure and meta data/descriptions etc

Social media
  • Support the Digital Marketing Executive with the growth of social media networks and audiences
  • Respond to comments and messages in a timely and professional manner
  • Maintain and update our social media accounts/communications with supporters and interested parties

Digital support
  • Use analytic tools to report on social media and web performance, especially for fundraising campaigns and monthly digital report
  • Assisting with research and monitoring of digital channels across all media outlets
  • Keep up to date with latest digital developments and their application
  • Support the Digital Communications Lead in delivering the digital strategy
  • Manage the eBay Charity account and flag products that are for sale that don’t support Dementia UK’s values
  • Work with teams across the charity, upskilling others in digital best practice, and helping them measure and improve the effectiveness of their digital marketing

  • Be the first point of call for people contacting the organisation via our marketing@ and contactus@ email address
  • Occasional support on other marketing and communications work when needed
  • Protect and enhance the organisation's public reputation when speaking on its behalf
  • Stay informed of upcoming trends and developments

  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a small team
  • An interest in digital communications and trends
  • Ability to format images for web
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritise your workload whilst maintaining attention to detail
  • Empathy with the aims of the charity and the needs of families affected by dementia
  • Experience of using content management systems such as Wordpress
  • Experience of using Google analytics and social media analytics
