BBC Product Group is looking to appoint a temporary Director of Product Delivery & Programme Management to work closely with the Director, Product Operations and Product Leadership Team to lead a delivery function and the newly created PMO through a transformation phase ensuring best practices & processes are implemented and the functions are operating as efficiently as possible to meet the needs of a new Product Operating Model.
We need someone that has:
An understanding of the product operating model and agile best practice (e.g. investment practices)
Experience of running agile delivery and programmes at scale (i.e. portfolio level) and developing portfolio management
Experience of what best in class delivery and programme management practice looks like
Implemented effective strategic planning processes and embedded OKR best practices
Implemented financial analysis and value driven financial metrics
This role will be key in supporting our overall Digital First strategy. Your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Delivery & Programme Function
Lead delivery and program management functions to support the transition into the new Product Operating Model
Ensure the delivery functions are supporting Product Group to achieve the most efficient and effective results for now and in the future
Implement incremental efficiencies within the current delivery operating model through a deep evaluation of current working practices
Work with the existing team to provide clear recommendations of future change in the delivery operating model ensuring it’s aligned to deliver against the goals of the Product Function longer term
Ensure open communication across the Product leadership team and Group as a whole
Be the voice of Delivery and Operations at the Product Leadership Team
Create new and evolved processes that drive value and create visibility of work
Drive disciplined execution and engage stakeholders at all levels
Manage teams who are managing complex projects
Lead OKR setting, management and reporting
Embed OKR’s within the teams, in line with broader Product Group goals
Embed financial rigor and report on value delivered through analysing financial investment
Lead portfolio investment review
Provide leadership support, communication and development across the Delivery, Program Management and Operations team
Provide effective leadership coaching to the team
Lead through significant period of change impacting the product function during this transformation phase

Experienced strategic Product Delivery & Program Management leader with proven ability to lead larger teams through transformational change within the Product Delivery sphere
Experienced at completing an evaluation of Delivery Operating models and successfully implementing incremental improvements to the workflows
Experienced operational leader driving operational efficiencies and effectiveness
Relationship builder, sophisticated in their approach to building strong relationships quickly
To succeed in this role, you’ll need…
Experience of leading Delivery & PMO teams within Product-Led organisations with a portfolio mindset
Strategic and Operational experience
Transformation experience
Strong people leadership skills, with effective coaching experience
Experience of operating at a senior level
Experience working with Agile methodologies and frameworks & ensuring this approach is embedded across all teams
Demonstrates strong change leadership experience, seamlessly able to build, motivate and lead high performing teams and technology professionals
Adopts an open communication style with the experience and ability to communicate the vision and transformational roadmap to both internally to the teams and senior executives with the BBC
Is passionate about building and leading product-led organisations, ensuring users at the centre of product direction and accessibility at the heart of everything we do
As an expert in their field, they will provide professional leadership and act as role model to their teams and colleagues
Is adept at managing numerous, diverse senior and executive level stakeholders, often operating under tight timescales and managing numerous competing priorities
Contract Type: 6 x month FTC (Fixed Term Contract)
