Frieze Publishing is seeking an Editor in Chief. Reporting directly to the Publisher and serving as a key member of the Frieze team, the Editor in Chief’s primary responsibility is to develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy that both recognizes and builds upon Frieze’s position as a leading publication on art and culture.
The Editor in Chief will lead an international team working across frieze Magazine, Frieze’s e-newsletters and social media platforms. The EIC will set editorial priorities across the year, integrating visionary and strategic thinking with deep insight into the art and culture landscape. The EIC will also work closely with the design, digital and marketing teams to ensure the most effective publication of Frieze’s content across all media.
Above all the Editor in Chief will be responsible for maintaining and progressing the relevance, resonance, and impact of Frieze’s output through progressive thinking, deep immersion in contemporary art and culture, and impeccable curation of contributors, coverage, and ideas.
The Editor in Chief will represent Frieze’s editorial interests on a global level; this position requires extensive travel to Frieze’s offices in Berlin and New York, as well as international art fairs, biennials, and other major cultural events.
Requirements include an innovative perspective, extensive understanding of the art world, excellent management skills, and a fair amount of grit.
