An exciting opportunity has arisen for a creative and highly organised individual to work on books of outstanding quality at Penguin Press, the publishing house that is home to Penguin Classics and non-fiction imprints Allen Lane, Particular and Pelican.
You will work closely with one of the Publishing Directors, providing support on a range of non-fiction titles in subjects including history, politics, economics and the arts. Authors include Anne Applebaum, Clare Carlisle, Christopher de Hamel, Robin Lane Fox, Diarmaid MacCulloch, Mariana Mazzucato, Andrew Roberts, Roger Scruton, Amartya Sen, Richard Sennett and Joseph Stiglitz.
The role requires you to provide full administrative and editorial support to the Publishing Director, efficiently run the office and liaise with authors, agents and internal departments (e.g. publicity, marketing, sales and production). You will help facilitate the progress of manuscripts through to publication, and coordinate with colleagues and external contacts to ensure the process runs smoothly.
We are looking for a self-starter who is full of ideas and interested in engaging with the breadth of our non-fiction publishing. You will need to have proven administrative and organisational skills, be hard working, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and show enthusiasm and meticulous attention to detail.
This is a varied and demanding role and offers a real opportunity for someone interested in a career in publishing.
