As a Designer, you will report into and work closely with the Womenswear Senior Designer as part of the Womenswear Non-Clothing Design team and be responsible for designing our Footwear collections. You will have a collaborative approach, with your finger on the pulse of fashion, always looking to push the department forward. You will be part of the team responsible for designing the future ranges for our 20-something customer. What you’ll be doing...
  • Researching, developing and designing the ASOS DESIGN Womenswear footwear range
  • Identifying big deals and key shapes for the season
  • Challenging everything, you will demonstrate excellent agility, identifying trends and delivering them at speed
  • You’ll draw influences from a wide range of sources – from Instagram micro trends through to seasonal global trends - and will drive newness through the range by customer segment by end use
  • Sourcing new materials, techniques and trims, you’ll have a good knowledge of PU and leather along with excellent colour and material knowledge
  • Future Innovation: You’ll have the opportunity to work with 3D Print on rapid prototypes
  • Working closely with our in-house buying team, you will have responsibility for your own categories – with guidance and feedback from line manager
  • Reacting to sales information you will be responsible for designing commercially relevant fashion forward ranges, utilising both long lead and short lead suppliers
  • Strategizing and reacting to trade, updating best sellers and ensuring newness at all times
  • Adhering to the critical path to meet deadlines, ensuring product is developed for the relevant and optimum selling period
  • Building relations with suppliers and advising factories on direction, construction, key details, materials and trims
  • You’ll be working with our technical team on initial fits, advising factories on construction, details and artworks
  • Identifying and helping problem solve for the department
  • Travelling and researching for directional and comparative trend and product direction- Development trips required to Far East, India and Europe
  • Working with our Press and Fashion teams so create editorial product and deliver those all important Instagramable product placement moments

We’d love to meet someone with…
  • Previous experience in designing for an aspirational brand or a similar High Street Retailer
  • Previous experience working across all footwear categories
  • Previous experience of working with both Far East and Indian suppliers
  • Strong commercial handwriting and understanding of the ASOS Brand and Customer
  • Computer Skills: Photoshop, Adobe, CAD
  • Fashion forward thinking
  • Manages themselves in a professional manner at all times and keeps all information belonging to the company confidential
  • Responsible for individuals’ time management
  • Highlights problems and suggests solutions, seeking practical ways to overcome barriers and remaining calm under pressure
  • Is able to communicate confidently, effectively and appropriately with colleagues, suppliers, wider team & senior management
  • Is able to driver the performance and strategy of the department
  • Willingness to travel in the UK and abroad for development meetings and inspirational purposes
