Role Overview:
Focused on delivering our global ONE Dentsu growth strategy, the Media LoB is focused on driving an elevated marketing function across our Media brands. Our ambition is to design a highly ambitious and well organized marcomms function that can not only scale, elevate and differentiate our 5 global network brands (Carat, iProspect, dentsu X, Vizeum and Posterscope), but also proactively drive synergies and improved ways of working. The External Communications function will be responsible for securing PR and Analysts relationships, supporting external events, crafting & securing speaking engagements and driving award submissions and entries.
We’re looking for a forward-thinking External Communication to join our team. Reporting directly to the Chief Communications Officer, you will be responsible for leading executive communications, coordinating our media and analyst relations and promoting thought leadership globally with a heightened focus across the UK and EMEA.
You’ll play an important role in building positive brand reputation, growing visibility with press and influencers and supporting the brand activations and client experiences via our events.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership qualities and project management skills, a deep understanding of brand AND lead generation, as well as a proven track record for concepting and producing large-scale events.
Overarching Responsibilities
Role will focus on:
  • Working with the Global CMO, Brand Manager and Brand leadership teams, the External Communication will define and execute a proper external communication strategy aligned the BRAND’S communication and business strategy
  • Building relationships with Global Dentsu and Media LoB marketing and communications practitioners globally. This includes all local BRAND marcomms teams.
  • Building relationships with key influencers and publications
  • Managing and improving the global press office function to be a centre of knowledge and excellence on thought leadership and news agenda, keeping senior management abreast of relevant media commentary and providing regular reporting.
  • Drafting materials including press releases, briefing notes, presentations and key messages relating to a range of activities including business development, acquisitions and new products and services.
  • Where needed, supporting and creating great stage and press content in support of our major initiatives and events (e.g. Cannes Lions, Demexco and ect. Also includes internal events when necessary.)
  • Developing corporate communications PR tools including common approaches to messaging, press monitoring, online coverage
  • Drive a focused and proactive awards approach that not only identifies but improves our awards submissions and increasing our wins
How you’ll make an impact:
Media & Analyst Relations (UK & EMEA focused, but will provide Global support as necessary)
  • Help develop and execute a strategic media relations strategy that will build corporate reputation and drive demand for the Brands within Dentsu Media LoB
  • Position BRANDS and senior executives as thought leaders by securing an ongoing cadence of speaking engagements, media interviews, branded partnership content, social and digital content.
  • Working in collaboration with the Brand Manager, co-create and execute the brand activations, client experiences, lead-generation programs and industry events – this includes having strong industry knowledge of national key tentpole events
  • Continually researching, evolving and innovating our PR and Analyst calendar to meet the priorities of a rapid-growth organization
  • Managing PR calendar: launches, interviews, awards deadlines, event speakers and more
  • Daily media monitoring for Dentsu Aegis Network news and mentions
  • Creating coverage reports, maintaining press archives and managing media lists
  • Researching emerging media, influencers and topics related to our industry
  • Analyzing news and social data to make relevant recommendations
  • Reporting regularly on PR & Analyst strategy, performance and other best practices to senior executives and stakeholders
  • Drive an awards focused culture globally across the Media LoB
  • Proactively identifies award stories and submission opportunities across the Media LoB and BRANDS
  • Elevate and improves our awards submissions through storytelling and videos to increase our winnings
  • Reporting regularly on award strategy, performance and other best practices to senior executives and stakeholders
  • Overseeing and executing the “people” strategy for awards opportunities typically tied to events, ie: 40 under 40, Most Creative Agency, She Runs It, etc.
What you’ll bring to our team:
  • B.A. or M.A.  in communications, marketing or related field
  • 5 -12 years of agency-side or client-side experience in a matrix environment
  • Strong media relationships and industry connections
  • Ability to quickly build trust and influence all levels of an organization
  • Stellar writing skills, strong management abilities and interpersonal skills
  • Experience driving adoption of corporate stories and narratives
  • Mentorship and day-to-day guidance for junior team members
Bonus points if you have:
  • Graphic design skills
  • Experience working in a content management system
  • Familiarity with Campaign Monitor, Meltwater, Cision (Trendkite), and PR Newswire
