Why this job matters
In this role, you'll manage campaigns and press office activities for BT's Business unit, covering diverse segments such as Corporate & Public Sector. You'll collaborate with senior leaders, marketing, sales, and HR, as well as the wider BT Group corporate affairs team. This position is crucial in shaping and communicating BT's transformation and achievements.
What you’ll be doing
  • Manage external communications for BT’s Business unit, including BAU activities and campaigns.
  • Plan and execute strategic communications for earned media, evaluate and report on outcomes.
  • Engage in media relations and storytelling to highlight BT’s brand and commercial messaging.
  • Write compelling content such as press releases, blogs, opinion pieces, and social media posts.
  • Provide strategic counsel to senior stakeholders and manage their public profiles.
  • Handle reactive press office enquiries and support issues and crisis communications.
  • Collaborate with agency partners on campaigns and press office activities.
  • Work closely with colleagues across corporate affairs, marketing, analyst relations, and investor relations to align outputs with business priorities.
Your skills
  • Experience in corporate or B2B external communications.
  • Creative thinking and a proactive mindset for identifying and telling great stories.
  • Strong copywriting skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and the ability to influence decision-makers.
  • Understanding of earned media and digital channels.
  • Experience in crisis management and handling comms issues.
  • Collaborative and energetic approach to work.
  • Knowledge of key issues and trends in the tech sector.
  • Strong program management skills to handle multiple projects and deliver results.
What we’re looking for
  • Significant experience in an external communications role (in-house or agency).
  • Proven track record in B2B and/or technology communications.
  • Experience in a dynamic, fast-paced communications environment.
  • Understanding of corporate communications and crisis management.
  • Agency and budget management experience.
  • Creative thinking and strategic planning skills.
  • Flexibility and openness to diverse career paths and working styles.
