Penguin Random House is looking for Front-End Engineer to join the Technology team where you will be responsible for developing, building and maintaining all aspects of the Adobe AEM platform frontend code. As our Front-End Engineer, you will be a key development role within the organisation and will join us during the implementation stage of Penguin Random House’s digital portfolio.
Working as part of our Online team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining high quality and maintainable code that is well performing, secure and follows all coding standards. You will ensure a globally robust, highly scalable approach to development to support our growing number of global users and services at Penguin.
Solid experience in required technologies and concepts including:
Commercial experience of ECMAScript 6 JS and Babel.
Experience in both using and maintaining client side build tools & pre-processors e.g. Gulp, Grunt.
Experience with templating frameworks like handlebars
Commercial experience in both CSS3 and SCSS
Experience in integrating/consuming Web Services and Rest API’s
Understanding of accessibility and how it applies to your markup.
Understanding of code performance and how this can affect a websites overall loading
Commercial experience developing for AEM (clientlibs, HTL/sightly, dialogs).
Experience of responsive development and progressive enhancement.
Scrum experience of working within a continuous and iterative delivery cycle.
Experience in the configuration and deployment of Java applications.
Experience in building for or working with cloud based infrastructure, specifically on AWS
Test automation experience.
Experience developing using other languages e.g. PHP, Python, JAVA
Experience using Adobe marketing cloud service e.g. Target, Analytics
Experience developing for Wordpress
Experience developing for Shopify
Enthusiastic and self-motivated, with the ability to be the sole Front-End Engineer on a project.
Ability to relay technical knowledge to stakeholders with various levels of technical knowledge at all levels of seniority
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Bring different perspectives, and eagerness to pass on knowledge to other team members
Forward thinking mind-set, with the ability to define and develop improved working practices
Innovative and creative, with a logical and methodical approach to problem solving
Meticulous attention to detail, with an overall passion for continual improvement
