The Head of Apparel Design is responsible for the creative direction and design of the Rapha Apparel, ensuring that the range delivers unique products that lead the market in performance, quality and style. The successful candidate will need to lead a team of designers to execute the seasonal product range, collaborating with other teams and stakeholders to deliver innovative, relevant and well resolved products in-line with the company timelines and strategic goals.
Lead Rapha’s team of apparel designs to create innovative, relevant and highly resolved product collections that keep Rapha at the forefront of the cycling industry
Set seasonal creative direction for apparel and graphics
Set seasonal colour direction and work with the design and merchandising team to deliver a compelling, relevant and commercially balanced colour offering
Champion the product process to ensure discipline in delivering products to market on time and within margin
Build insights into new relevant and compelling products that inspire the community
Align with the Product Design Director, Product Manager and Marketing on product direction
Work closely with the Materials team to craft a fabric strategy for the apparel range
Mentor creative, technical and professional skills within the Apparel Design Team to ensure Rapha is building for the future
Foster collaborative working relationships across Atelier, Materials, Product Engineering, Sourcing and Merchandising
Ensure consistent and commercially relevant fit.
Connecting and championing products inside and outside of Rapha
7-10 years (+) experience within the apparel design industry, previously in roles such as Head of Design, Senior Designer, Design Manager.
Proven in delivering commercial impact through product excellence.
Own and lead cycling through exceptional product experiences.
Working cross-functionally, to create new product categories and new ways to enjoy riding
Continuously wanting to improve and create industry leading design
Committed to getting ambitious ideas over the line, through careful planning and organisation.
Be open to possibilities and be driven by innovation
Experience of supporting design decisions with insights and keeping commercial targets in mind.
Enjoy being a manager and leader of a team; with the ability to not only design great products, but inspire and effectively manage others.
Good understanding of the cycling market, competitor landscape and product offering.
A passion for cycling and/or cycling products or an interest in active sports with a willingness to get involved.
