Description

We’re looking for a brilliantly talented Head of Digital Advertising to join our award winning advertising team here at UKTV. We have ambitious plans for VOD advertising and this is a real opportunity to make a difference in shaping and impacting our VOD platform. You’ll have proven experience in the VOD ad sales market and the gravitas to influence and help drive our fast growing VOD services.
Ideally you’ll have worked for a broadcaster previously (either in-house or agency side) and you’ll be confident dealing with numbers and reporting to a senior level. This is a great role for someone with technical knowledge who understands the process of ad sales within broadcasting.
As a team we work closely with UKTV’s ad sales house, Channel 4 Sales. Our focus is to maximise advertising revenue across channels and digital inventory (websites and VOD platforms). We embrace our collaborative environment here at UKTV and as Head of Digital Advertising you’ll build key relationships with the Editorial and Commercial teams to identify new digital revenue opportunities.
Please note this role is part time, 3.5 days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Driving UKTV advertising revenue growth through maximising video on demand (VOD), display and technology-enhanced linear advertising opportunities
  • Proactively identifying and delivering new ways to super-charge VOD revenues and new emerging advertising opportunities
  • Responsibility for achieving revenue targets and regular monitoring of performance against targets; keeping UKTV fully informed of progress and actions
  • Working with Director of Advertising to shape advertising budgets and long range plans; budgeting and forecasting; and to drive UKTV’s digital advertising strategy
  • Ensuring UKTV extracts maximum advertising return from each platform, embracing opportunities through new technology and data including dynamic targeting and new solutions such as AdSmart. Understanding the advertising capabilities of different platforms
  • Supporting Commercial team in ensuring UKTV achieves optimal terms with platforms to deliver the best advertising return
  • Tracking industry developments around the evolution of TV and VOD advertising, understanding the impact/opportunity for UKTV and applying this knowledge to the benefit of UKTV
  • Key interface between UKTV adsales team, editorial and digital delivery teams
  • Supporting Director of Advertising with proactive management of C4 Adsales team and their technical support team:
  • Monitoring performance and monetisation; highlighting challenges and opportunities
  • Collaborating on strategy, particularly in the area of new technology, new platforms, emerging opportunities
  • Experienced with necessary technology/systems to support optimal advertising return and equipped to ensure C4Sales are adopting appropriate resources and systems
  • Experienced with regulatory parameters, in particular around data and targeted advertising
  • Facilitating integrated solutions as appropriate
  • Providing consistent information flow to ensure C4Sales have all the information required to deliver the best possible ad revenue figure

Complexity & Problem Solving:
  • Troubleshoot and resolve internal and external issues associated with ad campaigns
Managing Relationships:
  • Key stakeholder in the overall C4Adsales relationship
  • Key role in the UKTV Advertising team, able to confidently converse with ELT members
  • Develop collaborative relationships with key external advertising clients including at a senior level
  • To harness team spirit across UKTV and collaborate with colleagues across the business to deliver successful campaigns
  • To promote and display trust to build successful business relationships and contacts
Commercial Impact:
  • Identify and develop business opportunities with third parties, beyond advertising
  • Promote UKTV’s brands and commercial activities externally
Business Impact / Strategic Responsibility:
  • Responsible for delivering VOD revenue and pursuing opportunities to increase yield around VOD
  • Highlight UKTV opportunities to drive further growth in this area
  • Influence and guide internal discussions regarding our digital strategy
  • Understanding of UKTV’s strategy and how an evolving adsales strategy contributes
Knowledge, skills & experience:
  • Significant advertising experience in VOD AdSales market
  • Conversant with different platform and ad-serving technologies; comfortable with working with technical teams to optimise revenue and deliver new opportunities
  • Experience of creating advertiser value around new platform opportunities
  • Experience of developing and implementing a digital advertising strategy
  • Strong industry knowledge, in particular VOD
  • A commercial specialist with a genuine passion for TV and for innovation
  • Strong relationship management and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across a number of departments and services as well as external stakeholders
  • Take a proactive and flexible approach to work and be comfortable with a dynamic environment with constantly changing priorities
  • Confident with Excel
