Under the guidance of a new CEO, 2020 has seen the launch of a number of new initiatives, such as Frieze Viewing Room, with more coming imminently. This role will play a key part in developing these and those yet to launch.
About the Role
The Head of Marketing & Membership has global responsibility to develop and implement an integrated marketing and communications strategy for Frieze, spanning the breadth of the company’s work—from art fairs to subscriptions and digital publishing.
This role provides a rare opportunity to join a dynamic business as the most senior marketeer; develop the identity of the Frieze brand; shape marketing strategy and operations; launch new services and work seamlessly across the business to develop and deepen customer relationships.
A key responsibility will be to help shape and drive engagement with Frieze’s new membership schemes.
Definition, development and consistent articulation of the Frieze brand to drive engagement and value with all audience groups
Owning the marketing structure and strategy to deliver against the business’ revenue objectives
Developing and maintaining clear activation strategies to meet various business needs across Fairs, Publishing, VIP & Partnerships and deliver the required impact
Play a key role in developing Frieze’s Membership business, managing digital audience growth, print acquisition and churn, as well as identifying and implementing key affiliate partnerships
Managing the creative output for marketing campaigns alongside the Design Team.
Work with existing teams and technology partners to deliver best-in-class CRM capabilities and audience retention
Managing audience and revenue forecasting across the business
Management of marketing resources (people, budget, channels) to work seamlessly across the business
Owning marketing reporting across business areas and marketing channels
Line management and development of the marketing team and other fair related roles
Extensive experience of marketing, both in terms of strategy and execution
Demonstrable experience of developing and delivering strategic and operating plans within budget and on time
Creative and innovative: able to come up with new solutions and opportunities, with the drive to also see them through to completion
An ability to interpret data and research, and to form actionable insights
Line management experience, with demonstrable success in managing and coaching a high performing team
Ability to collaborate and communicate with a range of internal and external stakeholders
An interest in the contemporary art world
We are looking for candidates ideally with experience within art & culture, events or media, though other backgrounds will be considered. Experience of membership schemes would be advantageous but is not essential.
