JOB PURPOSE
The role is responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of internal communications and employee engagement campaigns and activities to support the aims and objectives of the Retail, Merchandising and Marketing functions. The IC Manager supports both communications targeted at all employees across Burberry, as well as communicating with and creating communications specifically targeted at the Retail, Merchandising and Marketing teams. The post holder will be responsible for some of Burberry’s most important internal stakeholder relationships.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • In line with the company internal communications strategy, design and deliver internal communications strategies and plans to support the delivery of the Retail, Merchandising and Marketing functions’ objectives in the context of the Burberry vision and strategy.
  • Engage the wider Burberry organisation in the purpose, objectives, work and achievements of Retail, Merchandising and Marketing.
  • Engage teams within Retail, Merchandising and Marketing in the strategy and objectives of Burberry and in those of their respective functions.
  • Create and deliver engaging and accurate content that is timely, targeted, creative and effective, and delivered in line with established style guidelines, correct usage of English grammar and corporate messages.
  • Implement closed loop activity by being insight led and outcome driven, providing measurement and insight into the effectiveness of internal communications and employee engagement.
  • Work with third party suppliers and creative agencies if required to help bring communications strategies to life.
  • Deliver events as required from content creation to on-the-day management.
  • Provide communications planning and delivery advice to teams on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the business to help create a highly effective, positive internal communications function
PERSONAL PROFILE
  • Significant experience of working in an internal communications environment.
  • Well-developed skills and experience in communications strategy development, planning and delivery, with evidence of planning and delivering integrated, successful multi-channel communications campaigns - including the ability to negotiate and influence at all levels effectively.
  • Strong evidence of working with most senior levels in a business, managing stakeholder relationship and influencing up to executive team level.
  • Experience of working in a large complex business – ideally with retail and/or luxury industry experience.  
  • Creativity.
  • Solid writing skills that include the ability to translate business language into plain English.
  • Highly organised, with good strategic communication planning skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to develop and implement creative, insight-driven engagement campaigns and plans.
  • Experience of utilising a wide range of channels including SharePoint based intranet systems, Yammer, video, podcasts etc.
  • Strong writing and editing skills to deliver clear and concise messages for a range of audiences.
  • Pragmatic, calm, objective and passionate in delivery.
  • Experience of project managing large-scale and complicated communications projects.
  • Excellent planning and stakeholder mapping experience.
  • Action orientated and time focused, is able to keep to and manage delivery to tight deadlines.
  • Learns from mistakes and takes responsibility.
  • Works effectively in a team, co-operative, supportive and sympathetic to the views of others
