We are a fabulous creative design team looking for a Junior Structured Designer to join us at Boden. As Junior Designer you’ll be responsible for contributing to the Structured range with a focus on denim, trousers, shorts and skirts while working closely with the Outerwear designer  and Admin Assistant to ensure the smooth running of the department. We’re looking for someone who will thrive in an environment where things move quickly and you have to collaborate with other teams to execute brilliantly at pace. Below are some of the key attributes and skills we’ll be looking out for;
  • Ensure ranges are innovative, unique, modern and reflect Boden’s brand values
  • Develop a key understanding and affinity with the Boden core customer
  • Produce detailed sketches, CADs and specifications for development packs
  • Experience designing casualwear and denim
  • Knowledge and understanding of wash for casual product.
  • Ensure wardrobe pages and PLM systems up to date and relevant at all times
  • To maintain critical path dates and ensure timely approvals
  • Attend Toile, development, 1st and 2nd fit sessions with support of Designer ensuring styles are flattering and have ‘Fit Attitude’.
  • Ensure supplier and cross functional team communication is clear
  • Work closely with Product Merchandisers/Product Developer/Garment Tech teams to deliver balanced and exciting range.
  • Be able to design into price point
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently as well as the wider team, contributing to a positive and creative team environment.
  • To have knowledge of garment construction and be able to confidently produce tech packs with all relevant details
  • Have an understanding of fabric, drape and fit, confident in selecting fabrics that deliver on aesthetic/cost/sustainability.
  • Design with fabric diversity.
  • Work with your Designer to ensure Boden are up to date with new and exciting developments and trends.
  • Work closely with Design Admin Assistant to delegate and support where necessary.
  • Experience with photoshop and illustrator is key
  • PLM experience is a bonus.
  • Great organisational and time management skills are key
  • To keep a constant eye on the market, see what competitors look like and regularly revisit/review and react to trade.
  • Willing to travel and visit suppliers/trade shows where necessary.
