Our Sports Production team has an exciting new opportunity for a Junior Production Manager to work across its multi-platform output. The team is at the forefront of Sports journalism, combining comprehensive sports commentaries and coverage with exclusive story delivery, accompanied by accessible analysis and explanation of events. It aims to deliver the highest-quality journalism and content to an increasingly diverse audience.
This is a key strategic role and the post holder will work in partnership with editorial colleagues and team leaders to deliver outstanding, distinctive, multi-platform Sport content using specialist production management skills, knowledge and experience. They will play an important part of the senior management team in providing ways to realise editorial ambitions within operational and financial constraints.
The JPM will bring effective leadership to the rest of the production management staff and play a crucial role in managing the teams’ rotas and maintaining a professional pan-BBC production management community.
They will need to have experience of planning and organising multi-venue and large scale live sporting events, along with a good working knowledge of all associated BBC safety procedures.
They will have managed relationships with both external partners and multiple programme teams at the same time. With proven ability to manage projects within tight deadlines and in budget they will also have demonstrable experience of working with BBC procurement systems.
In addition, the JPM will provide support to the senior management team on resource planning including loan outs, recruitment, work experience and other placement campaigns, maintaining Risk Assessment and other departmental records. They will also be the point of contact in the department for other internal partners.

We’re looking for a talented individual who has considerable knowledge and experience of live studios and outside broadcasts and a real interest in the Sports genre and the variety of programmes covered by the department.
All candidates will be required to show evidence of a high level of organisational, financial and planning experience in both their written application and also during the interview.
Evidenced experience of contributing to and delivering productions across a range of output or genres, on time and on budget.
Demonstrable working knowledge of end-to-end multi-platform production with a level of technical understanding to enable the most efficient production of content.
Effective project management skills and proven experience of end to end Sports projects delivery.
Able to manage interpersonal relationships effectively and work collaboratively within a diverse team.
Interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to establish and maintain effective relations with a wide range of contacts.
Record of being organised and responsive in fast-paced environments.
Experience of monitoring and managing health and safety on a production.
Demonstrates strong organisational and planning skills and manages conflicting demands to meet deadlines.
Able to proactively devise new ideas for working more efficiently.
Sufficient negotiating skills to influence, manage and negotiate deals and contracts in line with BBC policies and guidelines.
