Description

Agency :
Havas London
Job Description :
Havas London is Havas UK’s flagship creative agency. Our mission is to make a meaningful difference to brands, businesses and people.

We’re the only major UK advertising agency to share a single building with every other specialist business in our network, all under a single P&L. Sitting within the Havas Village in King’s Cross affords us some clear advantages; none more so than our ability to build bespoke, multi-discipline teams around our clients, whatever their business need.

These are not teams that are together on paper alone, but teams physically, culturally, logistically and financially aligned. This set-up allows us to complement – not replicate – our specialisms.
JUNIOR STRATEGIST
RESPONSIBILITIES
DEFINING
This is all about how we understand and define the problem to be solved, becoming experts in the client’s business and understand what success looks like and how to achieve it.
  • Understanding the business - challenges, growth opportunities, category threats, new entrants.
  • Identifying the creative opportunity within a brief.
  • Understanding the real world context the brief lives within - socially, politically, environmentally, financially, culturally and technologically - and connecting the dots
  • Understanding people - having our feet on the ground, not head in the industry.
  • Insight mining and development - finding new ways into the challenge, unlocking, reframing and challenging the status quo.
  • Setting KPIs and what success looks like. Putting the power of strategic thought at the centre of creative excellence.
  • Looking at this through a B-Corp lens (profit, people, planet)
As a Junior Strategist, in this area:
  • You’re invaluable support within the team, digging into data and insights and providing all the stim and ammunition we collectively need to shape the strategy.
  • You absorb a variety of news sources, keeping up to date with what’s happening in the world and stay a critical thinker by using a range of mainstream, niche, social andbroadcast sources.
  • You uncover insights, familiarising yourself with the terminology and tools available, and how and where to mine for nuggets of inspiration.
  • You develop killer comp reviews, attend research groups and play an active role in team meetings.
  • You explore the creative opportunity, inspiring with relevant case studies and ideas.
  • You learn how the client’s business works and how to define a business problem and marketing objective.

2. Working closely with creatives to build a meaningful idea that can inspire change.
3. Being clear in your role and taking responsibility for your output.
4. Rolling in and get your hands dirty.
5. Being impatient to act now.
6. Eyes on the output, not strat for strat sake.
7. Developing clear campaign structures that ensure the create works hard in all channels.
As a Junior Strategist, in this area:
  • You’re experiencing first hand the whole creative process.
  • You’re bringing your research and knowledge of the category and brand to the table when developing meaningful brand ideas.
  • You’re getting comfortable speaking up and sharing your point of view.
  • You’re proactively developing thinking and research as a result of the conversations you’re a part of.
  • You’re seeing the impact changes in strategy have on creative.
  • You’re starting to build relationships with creatives, actively leaning in to support their creative development.
STORYTELLING
This is about being clear, persuasive, compelling and passionate in what we say and how we say it.
1. Developing simple written narratives that bring new thinking and never regurgitate the brief.

  • You’re learning how to present data and insight in a digestible and engaging way.
  • You’re using things like creative reviews and sharing your own research as opportunities to learn how to not just regurgitate information, but instil your own analysis and point of view  into it.
