Job Description: MarComms Director

Organisation: Medea Creative Productions

Primary place of work: Soho, London

Employment Type: Temporary Contract, 2.5 days pw

Minimum Commitment: 2.5 days p/w

Working Environment: Split in office/remote [2 office days as essential]

Working Time: 45 hours pw / circa 9am-6pm with flexibility

Salary: Competitive, upon request

Medea was founded in pursuit of helping people to recognise the bubble, understand its workings, and to take control.In pursuit of Medea’s cause, the organisation is looking for a senior MarComms Director who knows how to touch hearts and minds of audiences from within an ambitious, purpose-driven Arts organisation.

MarComms Director’s first core task is to contribute to the creation of a large scale immersive experience in Spring 2025. We are recruiting for someone to join our executive team to lead this ambitious project to great success.

About Medea and ProjectX:

Medea Creative Productions is a creative production company formed in 2022, made up of a team of UK and international cross-disciplinary experts and specialists across immersive experiences, performing arts, festivals, TV and film. Collectively we have 100+ years’ experience of creating and bringing to life ground-breaking, inspiring and transformative experiences.

Medea aims to shine a light on the production, circulation, digestion and impact of information so that people can be empowered to make factually informed choices. We help people to think critically via The Arts, through highly playful, personalised, awe-inspiring experiences: this is impactful storytelling with purpose.

Medea has built a network of world-class creators, researchers and designers to deliver projects and multi-channel activations beginning in 2024 in London. Our high production immersive entertainment will engage and empower audiences, placing them at the heart of the experience.

ProjectX (working title) is an entertainment-forward, narrative-driven, highly-interactive, multi-sensory, location based experience which is physically, psychologically and ontologically immersive.  We design for awe. Tuning into our bodies, minds and emotions to create impactful storytelling with purpose.

What you will be doing:

  • Overseeing the marketing communications (MarComms) of Medea Creative Productions and its project slate.
  • Designing and implementing marketing strategies, timelines, and budgets.
  • Managing marketing activities, including social strategy and implementation, communications, PR, ticketing (including box office and community management), paid media, influencers, travel-trade, and partnerships where agreed.
  • Collaborating closely with the creative team on project branding/brand strategy and all MarComms workflows.
What experience you will need:

  • Over 10 years of senior MarComms experience in the cultural sector, with a focus on immersive experiences and/or performing arts.
  • Proven track record of successful audience engagement with Metroculturals and Experience Seekers segments, driving ticket sales and multi-channel campaigns.
  • Extensive and credible high-level network of PR, social media, and travel-trade agencies.
  • Responsibility for budgets exceeding £500k.
What skills you will need:

  • Strong negotiation skills for deals with agencies.
  • Expertise in raising company profiles through social networks and media.
  • Proficiency in content marketing to enhance the quality of relevant MarComms content.
  • Strategic ability to design and produce new campaign materials.

Interview process:

The interview process will be over 3 stages:
  • 2 x 1 hour interviews, with a mixture of Medea executives and leaders (we prefer in-person (Soho, London) where possible
  • An informal breakfast/lunch/dinner with Medea executives/leaders (London) This is only necessary for senior, long-term roles. Please delete where necessary.
After each phase we will provide an update (at minimum) within 1 working week
